Why? Substantiate your claim.
Most recent Sony DVDRWs have been based off L-O or Benq drives, and the latest ones are Optiarcs with NEC (the AWG170A). All are good drives..

But still we didn't hear complaints about Sony DVDRWs as compare to LiteOn and other.:bleh:

Friends, it is not possible that Brand Like Sony only put there logo and put any products in Market. There must be certain Conditions they put on LiteOn and I bet you, if you Open both LiteOn and Sony model you must find changes in Quality of Components they used for Sony.:cool2:

I and My friend have Sony DVDRW, not much used but no problem in last 18 months.

^Well, you'll lose the bet.
Tell you what.. run a stratified random survey, equal sample size for Sony G120A and Lite-On 165P6S drives (same drives).

You'll get roughly the same error rates.. they are the SAME DRIVE, except for Sony FWs on the Sony drives, and L-O FWs on the L-O drives. Heck, do a FW dump of both the drives, and you'll see the exact same media support as well.

Also, if they aren't the same drive, how come FW crossflashing on both will work?

OH!:ashamed:

as TechHead suggested get the LG H10N, LG H12N, Sony AWG170A or the Asus 1608P3S whichever you get for the cheapest price

Heard Asus 1608P3S can be flashed to a Pioneer 111L.
But what incase of warranty issues? is it reflashable?

and Pioneer 111L better than any LG?

@iosoft and Stick:
Let me spell it out for you guys. In the current DVDRW market environment, there are VERY FEW companies who have the resources to design and make their own DVDRWs. These are:

Lite-On.
Pioneer.
Hitachi-LG
Plextor
Benq-Philips - now taken over by L-O
Samsung-Toshiba (TSST)
NEC-Sony (Optiarc)

All the other companies who want to get in on the market, license out other designs, put their own FW on it and sell..

Asus, IO_Data and Buffalo - Pio drives.
Plextor (yes!!) - used the Benq 1640 as the Plex 740.
Sony - used Benq 1640 (Sony 810A) and 1670 (Sony 820A), as well as various L-O drives.

Nowadays, ,they use the drives coming out of the Optiarc JV with NEC, first of which is the AWG170A. Geddit?

Been using LG for past few years!!!

haven't found anything wrong with it!!!

In fact some DVD s burnt by BENq writers don't run on other DRIVES!!!

Same here...no bad experiences with LG drives as yet. one vote for LG. Though with optical drives you've just gotta get unlucky, I feel no 1 drive is best.. have seen a number of failed plextors as well...

I always hear bad for LG service, but still peopel like to buy there product, amazing. I too buy LG DVD Player.

But have Sony DRU800 DVDRW
