I read a lot of pdfs in Kindle. If you are comfortable with small fonts, most of the pdfs will do fine.

Also, I recently came across an alternative for the default Kindle firmware called Duokan. With it, you can on the fly crop the pdf. Also, if the pdf document's page has a two column layout, Duokan can handle it nicely. But, scanned pdfs are impossible to read. I have even read the Dilbert book (pdf) in Kindle. In this case, the text inside the cartoon's are a little blurry.

I too want to buy a tablet to compliment my Kindle (Kindle will still be my primary), since you cannot read all the pdfs in Kindle. If you would like, a will try to post a few screenshots with various pdfs.

Thanks Unni! Could you please post some screen-shots, especially with scanned PDFs?

This has special offers and sponsor screensaver. I am assuming that it would be annoying to have such a nuisance while reading. Anyone shed some light on this? Is it possible to hack and get rid of this feature?
Only option is to never turn on your WiFi, that way you don't get any ads downloaded. That said, I kinda like the fact that there are ads in the screensavers. Not that big a fan of the ads in the menus, but they are completely non intrusive. Of course they don't come when you are reading. Overall, nice experience.

Am posting some scanned pdf example kindle screenshot and some text pdf example. The pdf will look fine as long as the pdf original size is equal to the kindle screen size. Else it will be resized and you can zoom. Rotating the screen to landscape mode does help as seen in the third pic.

Kindle is the wrong device to handle pdf. For most cases, it will be a horrid experience. You will be better off converting the pdf to mobi format using calibre as long as you dont have images in the pdf. If there are images, then better get a netbook/tablet

But i have tonnes of pdf's.

All my user manuals, white papers, dev books.. ALL comes in pdf's and chm. Guess should go for the nook touch itself.

Then also, you wont have much good at pdf handling at least. Nook does reflow text for text based pdf, but it doesnt have options like landscape mode, increasing contrast AFAIK. Sony PRS-950 would do a better job that that. Refer [http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138689]

no ereader will be good for pdf in general. For technical books, tablet is the best answer at the moment I feel

another point to add in regards with the Nook and Kindle is, if the font size is set to small the images appear normally for PDF files but if the font size is different then the images sometime will not be visible clearly ... i have checked this on Nook Ebook reader older version and kindle ...
