Security Software Which free anti-virus is best for Windows 7 ?

Thanks. One more query is most of free version (assuming MSE or AVAST also) do not carry firewall protection suite. Does it also require to download separately to run with AV.

MSE does not have a firewall, but use the Windows Firewall already present in Windows since XP SP2.

Y'day installed MSE. very user friendly interface.

I'm still fed up with the long booting time (1 min to displaying Icons!!) though scanned PC in "Full" mode scan.

Also my Sansa+ player could not read on USB port. After inserting USB cable plug into PC, three option (transfer the file, no action & play music) window appeared soon on screen but after selecting option, no further action takes place in PC. Other gears like pendrive & card are very well operate on same USB port.

Pl suggest on above two points. thanks in advance.

Eset Nod 32 (not free) - Very light on system resources. Avast is good, but somehow didn't worked for me.. it became ineffective within 2 months time even after latest updates.

I have used Avira, Avast, Comodo and MSE. All are equally good as I never had any problem. But then I have also used the one mentioned by red dragon for a year, did not face any issues at all with that as well.

As you have used some of the top free antiviruses, pls tell which is the lightest on the system....
