Which Gigabit Switch to buy

Please recommend a good and cheap Gigabit Switch. 4 or 5 ports would be enough.

How's Netgear? If you know the approximate prices please post that too.

D-link cat6 was about 19.5/20 bucks a meter in richie street bout 2 weeks ago :)

PS:Pl update as to which switch and how much it was when ya finally get one :)

well u can always try CAT 5 for Gigabit networking ... i m having the same setup ....

NICs - 1 * Intel Pro 1000T , 2 * RTL 8169 , 1 * RTL 8111c with CAT 5 cabling ( techcom ) and desi connectors ...... transfers vary from 60-80 MBps

A low cost option you can try is TP-Link. They may not be that well know but their stuff is good. You could look at the TL-SG1008D. The only drawback is that it is not suitable for rack mounting as it uses a plastic case. TP Link products like Huawei are a rave in the Telecom / ISP segment due to their low cost / high reliability.

Finally bought this - Netgear WNR3500 from NewEgg. Was refurb, but price was awesome $32, and got it yesterday in my hand through KMD. Total damage 2.45k :)

And the great part is that I got the v2 model of the router and it supports DD-WRT too. :) :) :)
