Graphic Cards Which GPU to buy???

Hi

I'm luking to buy a new GPU (may be 2, :p).
My choice in order of preference :
1>GTX 480
2>GTX 470 SLI
3>GTX 465 SLI
4>HD 5970
Budget -> None as such. Have stopped deciding on budget cuz everytime I decide a budget i manage to overshoot it by a huge margin.

Current Hardware :
1>X6 1090T @ 4.2GHz
2>890FXA-UD7
3>2*1GB DDR3 GSkill 1600MHz
4>TX 850W PSU

My concerns :
1> GTX 480 -> Dont have AC in my room, soooo..........
2>GTX 470 SLI -> Same as above.............
3>GTX 465 SLI -> Reviews show that it scales quite well.
4>HD5970 -> Hmmmm.......lets say i prefer nVidia. :D. Also wud it fit in my CM 690 cabby?

Plz lemme know which 1 sud i buy?
buying by end of this month.

Check this link for GTX 465 SLI review which also has comparsion with your other mentioned cards..

GeForce GTX 465 SLI review

I guess HD5870 CF will also be a good competitor...anyways wait for the experts here to pour their choices:)

If you plan to stick with 1920 x 1080, then one HD5870 is more than enough. The dual ATI card, is way over kill. Though you can fit the HD5970 in the CM690, you would need to remove the HDD bracket opposite to the respective PCI.E slot.

Would not recommend the GTX4xx series -- summers in North India with no A/C, will generate immense heat.

SLI isn't possible on 890FX board unless you do some hack. I'd highly reckon GTX 480 if cooling and power consumption isn't an issue, else a single HD5870 is sweet for 1080 resolution. :)

FYI currently i'm running SLI on 890FX mobo with a hack.

It is known that flashing POV gt465 can be unlocked to a gt470 you can look into that
As for sli let others comment on it.
As far as i know nvidia does better in multiple card solutions than ati.

From your selection of components, I would go with an HD 5970. 5870 is of course recomended for 1080P gaming.

However, here is my suggestion:
I dont think money is an issue with you when it comes to buy a gfx card. So this is wat you can do. Get a 5870 right now. Sell it off in one year time when ati is ready with 6xxx and nvidia comes up with Fermi 2.0 (or whatever fancy name those nerds decide upon). If you get a high out of PhysX, then u can keep one of your 8800s as a dedicated physx card with a 5870. How does that sound?

There are two problems with nvidia: power consumtion and HEAT as you are well aware of. I would not even think of SLI'ing fermi without an AC in the room. Not ever in Noida man. Its too hot up there.

You have such top of line h/w and looking for a 30k+ GPU and have only 2GB of RAM. First upgrade the RAM's to 4GB min.

If you are ok with a 3 slot cooler the zotac amp edition is the ideal card for you , it comes with a improved heatsink and quieter fans. Otherwise get a stock 480 and should the cooler prove insufficient get a after market one , the performance of an overclocked 480 is pretty sweet.

1.GTX 480 a big no no no serious heat issues.
2.I dont believe the chart he posted

The 5970 outperforms the GTX 480 sli on directx 11 games
so HD 5970 is clearly the way to go the card is outrageously good

no competetion between those two

HD 5970 kills the GTX 480

I mean why would one go with the GTX 480 didnt you see the charts

only in SLI mode they come close to performance with the ATI HD 5970

otherwise the ATI HD 5970 is in a league of its own

I mean the ATI 5970 crushes the GTX 480 and dances around its carcass.

THe GTX 480

takes a lot of power

has serious heat issues

and less performance per dollar compared to the ATI HD 5970

the HD 5970 is the KING of VIDEO CARDS
