which graphics card should i go for ?

friends i am really confused as for what should i go

as for now both nvidia and amd are out with their new series of gpu's so choosing one is a difficult task here and i want your help

i have under consideration a 5970

but is 5970 really better than gtx 580,570 or 6870 in double crossfire

the rest of the configuration will be like

asus r3e

and intel i7 930

psu is cooler master silent pro m 700watts

and ram is ripjaws 2000mhz @ 9-9-9-27

might be using a cooler master v8 along with it also

budget is no bar

Get the GTX 580 as it will give u the best performance out of the box in every game without depending on driver optimizations & multi-gpu profiles. On the other hand u cud save some cash and get the HD6950 and mod it to a HD 6970 (performance >or==GTX 570). But if really ur budget is no bar then get HD 6950x 2 & xfire @ 35k which is what u wud pay for a HD 5970 in India. PS: If u wanna get HD 6950 get it now, as all HD 6950s at the moment are HD 6970s with slower GDDR5 & a disabled SIMD. My preference is to go for Saphire or XFX for HD 6950s as they have the best warranty

The Graphics card you should aim for at this budget is a SLi-ed setup of the GTX 570 for that you might have to up the PSU from the current 700W to its 850W flavor

Change the Processor too the Intel Core i7 950 ~ 14.5K ( prices have dropped )

RAM 6 GB RIPJAWS kit or better with speed at 1600MHz - timing like you mentioned upto you

Try to replace the ASUS motherboard with either the ASUS TuF ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ( not sure of this boards price but very close to UD3R ) series board or Gigabyte X58A UD3R ~ 13.5K

For CPU cooling go with the Corsair water cooling kits or the Cooler Master V6, the V8 is not so great

Hope this helps

if budget is no bar then 5970 hands down. when u have more money buy another 5970 and run it in crossfire. in that formation u'll be running 4 gpu's simultaneously!!!:)

u'll need to upgrade ur cabinet for a full tower chassis though. and ur PSU will have to be minimum 1000w.

in that config u can literally blow any game out of the way...:D

i would suggest antec truepower quattro 1200w or corsair AX1200(getting old though) or coolermaster silent power pro 1200w

Better SLi the GTX 570 now rather than the HD 5970 which is an almost EoL waiting like a monolith since its release to be taken over by a HD 7*** series equivalent or higher performing card

also Nvidia drivers and scaling is better than ATi :), but the HD 5970 is not such a bad card JUST overpriced :bleh: wholly my views

dude overpriced or not it kills even gtx 580... not kills murders violently...:D

In this review no where is the lead more than 10 fps that also from a dual GPU solution and 1 year of driver optimization I'll bet my money on current GTX 5** series for brute performance and Nvidia's brilliant drivers which expose it is much better to go for two GTX 570's and power consumption will be decent :)

still confused as there is some people supporting each card

hmmmm

i will wait for some more comments and suggestions

c'mon let them coming

and thanks everyone for humble support

an oced 5970 will kill the 580,if ur ocing get the 5970,if not ocing then 580.

Edit-i would rather get two 6870s which would be way better than the 580.

Man something is really wrong with you with over one year release ahead of GTX 580 and the accompanying driver upgrades the ATi card has manged a bare minimum 10fps lead over the Nvidia card

+Overclocking the HD 5970 is a no-brainer cause it quickly reaches a fold where the temperature increase render the gains of the operation wholly unsatisfactory and I don't think a GTX 580 SLi setup can be taken down with a ATi HD 6870 CROSSFIRE setup

Review - AMD ATI Radeon HD 5970 Review | bit-tech.net

Conclusion

The Radeon HD 5970 has a huge amount of potential (as the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. testing showed) but, more often than not, we found that the card failed to fulfil all of that potential. On paper, it's undoubtedly the meanest and highest performing graphics card on the planet, but the reality is quite different. With most retailers asking for more than £500, and with supply so low, we wonder why ATI bothered to release this card at this time. After all, it has the luxury of a DX11 monopoly at the moment, and a few more weeks of driver dev time wouldn't have gone amiss.

ATI's Eyefinity and the possibilities it opens up for multi-screen gaming might give it some edge. Even on a 30in screen with a load of AA, the HD 5970 fails to comprehensively distinguish itself from the current high-end cards, but possibly it will do great things when asked to power three 24in panels. There were number of occasions where we bumped into a CPU limitation on a single screen (even a 30in one), so Eyefinity should help to give the HD 5970 more purpose.

With that said, there are still some outstanding issues with the Radeon HD 5970, without testing Eyefinity, and most of them revolve around software. The HD 5970 failed to unlock anything like its full potential in four out of five of our test games, with the low minimums and high averages in Call of Duty: World at War and Dawn of War II strongly indicating that ATI needs to spend more time refining the driver for the HD 5970. While the monthly Catalyst updates do tend to bring new features and updates, there's no guarantee that a new driver will fix your favourite game, or that it won't lower performance in favour of a fix for another game.

Overall, we're very impressed with the Radeon HD 5970's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. performance, which we take to be example of just how fast the HD 5970 can be. However, we have to judge the card on its performance in all our test games, and it just doesn't stand up to that scrutiny. As such, we wouldn't buy a Radeon HD 5970 card at the moment, even if we could afford it, fit its 11.5in 12.2in length in our case, and find one in stock.

@shashank

You dint even mention the resolution on which u are gonna game at?

GTX570 can easily handle any game available today @ Full HD (Even Crysis)... So buying anything above GTX 570 wud b a waste of money... Now it totally depends on u... If u wanna burn ur hard earned money then i wud recommend u to buy 4 GTX 580 which can easily break world record of any GPU Benchmark...

For Eg... If u r looking to buy a bike to travel from one place to another then even a 40k bike will help u to do this... its just a matter of preference... some people wud buy R1 to travel and show off but both bikes will do the same thing... R1 wud run faster at the same time it will cost higher and splender wud run slower than r1 but wud b able to do the thang for which it is created for... BTW even if u'll buy R1 u wont b able to utilize the full performance of it(speed) coz of indian roads...

thnx alot for ur advises ..the monitor is a samsung 21.5'' one ,have not considered a monitor upgrade though ..will change it in the future but not now
hmmmm all d suggestions helped me out somehow
so i am thinking of a gtx 570 or 580 this time
