Hi all,
Offlate power cuts have become a PITA in gurgaon.
I was wondering which invertor to buy.
Luminious has good ASS here. Dealers suggets "sine wave" invertor :S .
Please advice what to buy to back up 3 fans + 3 lights + my PC running on load for 3 hours.
I have VX450W Corsair which has active PFC. Am complete N00B in these matters.
TIA.
Vivek.

u can get a apc BI1000I its a1000va pure sine wave invertor, the invertor costs about 7500 to 7900.but the batteries costs a lot this invertor needs 2 12volt batteries so if u want 100ah batteries it will costs approximately 16000 to 17000 for the batteries alone.there are other brands like su-kam but no idea about there performance.

I have been using Su-Kam and would suggest you give it a look. The 800 VA is around 3.5 K or so and runs on a single battery.

Go only for a pure sine wave inverter. Don't think about quasi/pseudo/square wave ones.

He is referring to an APC inverter.. they r nice.. very very good ASS :bleh: and front too

Here in NCR people swear by Luminious. I am going for 800VA single luminious battery with Since wave Luminious Invertor.

Rs. 12500 including installation.

800VA 135 AMP i guess.... 3 hours back up with 3 fans 3 lights ma PC as stated by dealer IF NOT i will exchange for a new higher model.

go for su-kam smiley ...800va/1.4kv sine wave inverter

Warning:

DON'T EVEN THINK APC....those B@st@rds don't have any service (esp BLR)

Its been 6.5weeks and I am still waiting for the battery replacement from them...they are using some shit brand batteries which have died on me twice in a year...my advice stay away from APC (a good product with shit service is equal to shit only)

DON'T EVEN THINK APC

I Agree. Called APC to replace the battery of my 800IN UPS. They provided me an address to go in chennai. They provided me 2 EXIDE 7Amp batteries for Rs. 2000. (The stupid APC distributor doesn't have any APC batteries in stock!!!). And the good news is, i am facing the same problem with the new EXIDE batteries even after the replacement. (just 1 minute backup if power fails.)

I recommend you Numeric or Su-Kam, never think about APC, if you are in Chennai too.

My 2 cents:
3 fans = 3 x 50watts = 150
3 Tube lights = 3 x 40 = 120
assume PC =300 watts
If u consider a 37 inch LCD also.. another 200watts
total 770watts
A 1000 watts UPS gives only 660watts(APC) output.
output = 60%-70% of rated VA

hope this helps!!

well apc does have a good service ,for eg my apc 500va ups was out of warranty and it used to power on without even pressing the switch and also the apc battery was dead after 5 years of use,so i asked them for a replacement and they said u can purchace exide batteries i insisted and gave a mail to the apc quality control within 24 hrs i gor a call from apc and they said only apc ups that comes from factory have a apc battery which is made by cvs or cbs dont remember, apc themself dont make battery.so the apc person told me that if i realy wanted that apc oem battery they can take it out of a brand new ups and give it to me ,and i also complained about the problem about my ups turning on without pressing power button and he said they can replace it ,which they did in the end they just took a DD of Rs800 for the apc battery and they gave me a new or may be refurbised apc ,even though my ups is well over the warranty by 2 years.:bleh:
after all these i got a call back and they enquired whether my new ups is working fine.:D

Ha atleast you need it only for 3 hours..over here we're having around 4-5 hour power cuts >.>

Oh and i was stupid enough to buy a modified sine wave inverter, and i used to run my comp daily and it ended up spoiling my ram while led to restarts during gaming :(

i have luminous inverter with new 180A exide battery. my desktop at stock speed doesn't last more than exactly 2 and half hour, along with 1 fan and tubelight, after a full charge.

emptied the battery 3 times with the same performance.

Another APC user here.Quiet good and has excellent backup, running strong from past one year without any problems. But,when it comes it after sale service,it sucks!

Yes it helped greatly! I have decided not to use PC with inverter 'coz to run my rig for 1-2 hours on inverter i need a 1.4VA inverter for frakking 25k. I will sleep while light is gone instead of gaming hehehe :ashamed:

Thanks, i got the idea. BTW this thread is "Which inverter to buy" NOT "Why not to buy APC" :( :ashamed:

Yeah running PC on UPS is risky, I have realised that reading so many user experiences. Chaos TE member has a 1KVA Sine Wave APC Ups that gives back up to his Ultra SLI rig for an hour. I guess thats wiser.
