Hello all,

Can someone tell me which will be "Easiest" way to run/install tar.gz files on Windows XP.

I am aware that once can install Virtual PC/VM ware & install linux image, but just to test tar (in .py or .c) file of 20 kb, I do not want to open & start VM Ware from scratch taking huge amount of RAM. I do not want to shut down XP & reboot it with Linux CD.

Any solutions ?

Thanks guys,

I know I can extract gz file even with WinRAR in XP, GZ (Gunzip) is similar to Winzip in Windows.

but how to run that tar file in Windows.

@greenhorn

You are right bro. but for cygwin I need to install lot of packages in order to run .py or .c files.

Any other tricks ?

@ folks posting methods to unzip it - he know how to do that. he needs to RUN linux apps/code on windows :P

Ubuntu Live CD - As you need only for temporary testing. Best and easiest way.
