Maybe you should rename this thread as the "Official AMD vs. Intel Flame Thread".

If you are asking about Desktop processors from AMD and Intel, I would recommend the Athlon 64 X2s, if you plan to get your system now.

If you can wait, wait for 2-3 months, Intel is launching a whole new processor line, the Core 2s, and these will rock. Also, their launch will cause huge price cuts from both AMD and Intel.

So, I would recommend waiting, however, if you do want to get a processor now, get an X2 if you can.

Seems like you have normal Intel P4 2.8 GHz, you should have ideally got a Pentium D 2.66 Processor (805) and overclocked it. This board overclocks this processor like a charm.

well X2's rule currently, but the Pentium D's particularly the 9xx series also rock, especially at vid editing and content creation. I've found the D series to be very good at multitasking also, better than the X2 IMO.

if u can wait C2D is around the corner.
