Hi, wanted to know which are the best options around 2k. Gaming requirements are very basic, mostly movies.
Config is Asus M2N68-AM, Athlon X2 2.6 Ghz, 17" CRT and VIP Gold 400w.
And please dont suggest any higher hand used cards cause they seem to be hard to get.

hmm for 2k, go for some used cards. May be ATI 4670 or nVidia 8600 GT. But make sure the card is still under warranty for atleast another 6 months.

gemmygem, thanks for your reply and good suggestions, but as i mentioned in my initial post, used cards are not an option cause i cant get them in my city, and with atleast 6 months warranty, forget it bro.

thx to you too lostprophets, but how is the 4350 compared to 8500/8600 GT.

I found this on Lynx, POV 9400 GT 512MB DDR2 ? Lynx-The Electronics & Computer Superstore, its Rs 500 premium which i can afford if its worth it.

I am open to any other suggestions though.

And can someone explain the price difference between the POV and this one http://www.lynx-india.com/index.php?productID=3275.

Acc to the site, i can get 1 GB version of Palit 9400GT for the price of a POV 512MB 9400GT, well almost.

Bro, if u can state here your city name, may be the other members in TE can help u out. And i didnt notice anywhere in your initial post where u stated used cards are not preferable for u. Anyways, if are ready to extend your budget atleast by 1K, then 9500 GT ddr3 is another option. Just a suggestion though. :)

HD 4350 and 9400gt are bit same interms of performance. but if u wanna watch hd movies 4350 is better cos its newer and has UVD 2.0. its not worth extra 500 bucks

ATI Radeon HD 4350 versus EVGA GeForce 9400GT :: Performance - DirectX 9 :: Motherboards.org

As for 8500 gt, its specs are same as 9400gt so it should be same performance wise. Having used 8600gt (ddr3 256mb) before i can say its much better than any of the those 3 cards, i used to play new games at full resolution in my old 19" lcd, it ran smooth.

you might need to get better psu if u buy 8600gt. power consumption is high on this card

gemmygem, i ve mentioned the used card thing in my initial post, read the last line.
Am in Nashik, forgot to mention it.
Thnx again for your suggestion, but its just a little too steep. Sorry abt that man, but thts just the way it is. :(

thnx again lostprophets.
again the card you used, i am not able find it, and secondly i was told that the VIP Gold can handle a 9600GT comfortably, but you say its not enough for 8600GT ???:S
i have the HD4350 and 8400GT, both 512 MB, available at around the same price, which should i go for ??

U mean 9400 gt right? theres no 8400 gt card only GS version available which is utter crap.Out of those 2 i would say go for 4350 if ur main usage is for movies. sapphire 4350 has hdmi output so get that one

I dunno about vip psu but i had two zebronics platinum psu die cos of 8600gt. mind u it was xfx factory oc'd card, it didnt have any powersaving mode always run in full speed

allright thnx guys, yes that was a typo... i meant the 9400GT.
My usage as i said earlier is only basic gaming and movies.

yes, HD4350 does seem to be the best option.
Will try to look for any used card, anyone on TE ?
Otherwise HD4350 it is, and by the way lostprophets, its very obvious why zebby psu's died out..:ohyeah:
