From the reliance, tata, airtel etc which is the best internet connection to use in a laptop...

i now use reliance usb modem--153kbps---1500Rs per month----unlimited...

is there any better ones?

i am also using the reliance ---1500Rs per month----unlimited for my desktop. It's crap but since that's the only connection i get here, i have to live with that.
Heard that bsnl is launching an evdo card that will allow 256k unlimited. But don't know when they are gonna launch.
BTW, alex wht, download speeds do you get with the reliance card ??

well i usually get 10-15kBps downloadin speed...but sometimes i get upto 26kBps also with ma IDM(Internet Download Manager)

well i get 10kBps wen its not in full range i.e less than 5 bars...else i get atleast 15kBps.....also the modem speed given is 153kbps...so appr 19kBps...

but i get upto 26kBps sometimes..so abt 208kbps...hehe , so thats more than i pay 4..

i see.. i was planning on picking one of these up for my laptop as well but unfortunately, i'm kinda picky. 10KBps would only make me tear my hair out so i decided i'd wait until we got atleast a minimum of 256k on the go :)

What is the speed you actually get? (on RCom)

All of them are pathetic, Airtel, the worst (technology restriction) - Out of the bad, Rcom is the lesser evil. (more coverage area geographically)

Essentially it boils down to your use, you have made no mention about where is it generally used.

ya, even the guy who gave this connection said i would be gettin 80-90kbps max as all are gettin tht much only....but the lowest speed that i get in full range is 80-90kbps....hehe

btw guys if there are any better schemes, do reply here....anyone with speeds greater than 153kbps?? any provider does so?

The present technology limitation is 153kbps - for higher speeds you have to wait for implementation of CDMA2 - or more popularly known as - hmmm what is that new mobile roll out called, the one with the huge bandwidth? everyone assumes its GSM but its really CDMA2. Damn I am getting old.

Damn i only get 15 kbps max. that lasts only for abt an hour a day.My average speed is only 10-11k at night and crappy 4-6k during daytime.
