a girl friend of mine ...a friend who is a girl ..lol... needs to buy a lappy n asked me to help her out .. she will be buying the lappy frm bangalore mostly and her budget is like 50-55-58k .

she will be using it basically for surfing n college work n a lil bit of gaming ..plz suggest some good models.

i personally like dell but she likes hp ...anyways all brands are welcome.

i need to give her the exact details by july 10th so hurry up guys ..:P

XPS will come at that price ?? i thought XPS would cost a bomb ...anyways ill check them out.

btw chaos can u tell me if dell gives discount in india ? those coupons n stuff ?
 
Nope it doesn't but you can get a decently configured, dual core dell xps for around 60K. Check dell.co.in. Infact its cheaper in India than in the US after all those coupons :P.

What he just said was that there are no discount coupons in India and it is still cheaper here, than in the US even after using discount coupons in the US.
 
if 12" is too small, take the core duo 14" 640m...will be around 50K-52K (or 58K if configured with 1 GB RAM, 80GB HDD, DVD RW)

The 640m is around 20% expensive than its US market replacement E1405 but the 640m has a much better LCD and construction quality than the E1405...

However, the 12" XPS will have the benefit of portbality, lighter weight, and you can configure it with a go7400 chip too

As of now, the Dells are the most VFM buy in the 50K+ category in the Indian market
