I need to buy my sister a loptop. The budget is 60k.

I was looking at the Dell Studio 15 and XPS1530. Can some one suggest a better choice.

Usage will be your normal college stuff and maybe some gaming, not much (I hope. )

I am looking at only the better brands, not Acer, Zenith, etc.

A major concern is warranty coverage, in Chennai.

I can buy from Chennai, but I will prefer to buy it here and take it there.

iStore in in Chennai. But for gals i would suggest a troublefree system..

But the question is whether ur sister is gonna do an engineering course. If then go for intel based laptops...[Dell Studio & XPS1330] has good config.

If else for flaunting & basic use go for macbook...She can also get some student deals too via her university

these days,DELLs are just VFM !
Sturdy build,reliable & fully customizable..
HPs are good too..

Both Dell & HP notebooks are locally available in stores, so i suggest you head to one and take a look at what's on offer..

She is doing CS at College of Engineering, Anna University. So I guess your basic circuit software might be needed and maybe Matlab. Possibly light photoshop too.

I would get her a mac but the mac air would not be enough and the pro is too expensive in India. Although I am getting me a mac later. :D

Does any body know whether the G84 and G86 probs are still present in the current laptops or did nVidia fix it. If not then a ATI based laptop might be better, I guess. Does any one know of those with a decent card, a 3650 or 3400 or something.

why are you looking at 15 inchers..? even a 15 inch MBP is not truly portable.. forget the others.. (unless u r looking for a lappy cum desktop replacement) a 13 or a 14 inch shud be good for ur sis..

look at the HP's in this range.. of course DELL is always there.. u cud get a top of the line 1330 config for 60k..
