Its a no brainer. Dell 1530 largely coz of the 8600GT.

ya i know..
neways...in HP there is 512 MB of video graphics
nd in dell its 256 MB ... so goin by the saying...

Ain't BIGGER THE BETTER ?? :p ....hehe...

i liked the HP 17" lappy
but am just a bit reluctant because of the graphics card...
will the HP lappy be able to play NFS PS nd crysis , Quake 4 etc ??....
if it can play these ...i'll go for it..coz the scrren is bigger for my 300 odd movies that i can watch on it then..

why not 2 go for the 8600m gs

1> sports ddr2 as oppossed to gddr3 (souped of version of ddr2..made exclusively for gfx cards)

2> half the no of stream processors :( ..16 in gs. 32 in gt

3>a bigger frame buffer is a handicap with low core specs..:'(
4> u buy a lappy and stick to it for a min of 1.5yrs....buy the better stuff once and for all...:cool2:

XPS is best gaming lappy available in India as of now.
Wondering why they removed faster T7500 & T7700 proccessors from configurable items

neways....can ne1 help me to find out how can i install XP on this system ??..

Lol, someone talkin of alienware systems...

If u can get it shipped from US or anyone who can get it from there fine..

Anyways,

The DELL Inspiron can as well be configured with the XPS stuff if u dun know..

I'd got an Inspiron 1520(the prev model) with a 2.2G proccy, 8600M GT, 2GB Ram n a 160GB HDD..

Ther're games tat run choppy so dont think its a real alternative fer a desktop with a gaming config.. ;)

And needless to say nVidia doesn hav driver updates as much fer their laptop versions compared to desktop ones.. :)

FINALLY! Laptops for gaming?@!#!! If you have a proper good gaming rig and then just want a laptop but that can let you do SOME amount of gaming, then please go ahead.

If you want to buy a laptop as a complete desktop/gaming system replacement...bad idea.. That mobile 8600GT just isn't going to cut it. Other drawbacks - small screen, battery isn't going to last as long as they say it will if you play games on it without power, laptop keyboards aren't great for gaming, sitting posture isn't comfortable either, heating issues...

The cost of it, 60k is the estimate? Any idea what kind of KILLER rig you can get for that much? :p Again, I'm under the impression that you like MANY others want a laptop as a complete everyday PC replacement. Most of them end up realizing its a complete pain 5-6 months down the line and then look for desktops again. The novelty fades out pretty quickly. Personal opinion thats all.

@cyber ...yup u cant upgrade a lappy nor can u xchange it withouth getting a heart attack...well it was his call...

coolendra...how many partions???

and dose suggesting alienware overlooked the fact that dell BOUGHT it way back in 06...the xps line has the alienware genes in it...
