Laptops which laptop to go for?? (UK)

hey guys..
well i'm currently in the UK doing my masters.. Already have a macbook, but i would be doing project on mobile robots which would be requiring programmings based on Ubuntu platform.. As i've heard that its quite hard to install ubuntu on a MB, i was looking for a good laptop.. budget would be around 1k GBP.. so could you guys suggest some suitable laptop.. some gaming and HD would be a bonus hyeah:.. would prefer a BD rom..

Go for the Dell studio studio xps 16. Decent GPU. Plus this is a direct deal from Dell and you have a 1 year warranty. Peace of Mind. You can also transfer the warranty if you come to India. Guess the other one is a re-furbhised one. Stay away from those as the studio XPS 16 itself satisfies all your needs.
