Linux Which linux distro for recovery or repairing purposes?

Which is the best lightweight system rescue and repair linux distro that i can boot off a cd or usb drive?

Some of them i have found on the net are
System Rescue CD
RIP Linux

havent used them
would like the opinions of experts before i download any of them.

Try Knoppix.

And for virus problems try Bitdefender Rescue Disc. It have update virus definations option form internet.

Does knoppix have all the essential tools for recovery included?

Go for SystemRescueCD.

In most cases, all is need to ability to read existing HDDs and backup your data. maybe run a virus scan.

I use SystemRescueCD. It has helped me in a few of the situations both at my office and home. Few of my friends recommend Knoppix, though I have not used it as SystemRescueCD has been able to handle my requirements till now.
