CPU/Mobo Which Motherboard for i7?

One of my friends is considering buying an i7 based PC. Most probably an i7-940 .

Which are the recommended Motherboards for that?

Budget for the MOBO is max 21-22k

And also what makes more sense.. 3x1GB DDR3 RAM or 3x2GB RAM..
(Is it worthwhile spending extra money for that much ram or wont make much of a difference as of today)

THe graphics card will most probably be a PALIT 4870 1GB dual DDR5 Sonic edition.
 
for my own self i have been researching on the same....

MSI Eclipse ( MSI Platinum or Pro to save money) or Asus P6T Deluxe or DFI LAN Party are best Mobos

as for RAMS i am still unsure if 1x3gb would be sufficient or not....
 
Go with i7 920, 6 GB of tri channel RAM, a Gigabyte X58 Motherboard.
Get a GTX 260 core 216 instead of the 4870 1GB, though both are fine cards.
 
rampage atx is beyond your budget. rampage gene micro atx might be available. i think the performance is same as asus p6t dlx so why not buy the bigger and more spacious mobo?

3x1gb ram is recommended. you can buy one more set of 3x1gb (or 3x2gb) after summer when prices have gone down since all i7 mobos have 6 slots for ram.
 
and for ram go for 6gb ddr3 corsiar around 11k

You can get 6gb OCZ platinum 1600Mhz for only 6k from KMD

As for MSI eclipse, i had some stability issues and it finally burnt out on me...Get the Gigabyte UD5,Asus p6t, or evga x58
