So i have bought the products mentioned below and need the best motherboard for this configuration.

AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition 1MB

Corsair 2x2GB DDR3 CMX4GX3M2A1600C9

After doing a lot of research at various forums I noticed that people had very good things to say about Biostar's 890GX anf 890FX motherboard, but unfortunately i can't find these motherboards anywhere, so can you guys suggest any other good viable option for my needs, i want to unlock the CPU and i have already tried it on my first PC and it does unlock to a quadcore (B55).

Thanks !!

If you want an unlock, get a mobo with a 710/750 southbridge. An example is the Gigabyte 880GM USB3.

8 series SB do not have support for core unlock.

My 890GX Asus (SB850) had support for Unlocking So do my 990FX (SB950), I ill suggest go for ASUS board in 880G chipset.

Go for the ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO OR similar motherboard for unlocking cores, although even I'm sure that I've read that a SB 710 chipset based motherboard has higher unlock ratios [so doesn't explain how ASUS boards are still porting these capabilities to higher chipsets],

In general, make sure the motherboard has a SB710 or SB750 southbridge and ACC is supported before purchasing. However, there are exceptions, as some motherboard manufacturers have disabled ACC core unlocking features. Rumors were floating around that AMD discouraged theO unlocking of cores. Hopefully the following list will clarify which motherboards work and which ones don't. Keep in mind that the BIOS revision plays an important role in unlocking. For example, with the Biostar TA790GX 128M motherboard, only 78DEA113 bios unlocks cores. The 78DEA525 bios DOES NOT UNLOCK ANYTHING.

Special Note about Asus Motherboards

UPDATE 22/8/09: Asus has released new bioses for their M4Axx line which addresses all previous unlocking problems. Make sure you update your bios to the most recent one before attempting to unlock.

okay even the BIOS plays a part so seems the case and ACC too, circles within circles.

Here are some links of how to go about unlocking processors --> http://www.overclock.net/t/535501/amd-k10-5-core-cache-unlocking-guide /

Also all this is to be taken with a pinch of salt -- Remember, core unlocking is NOT GUARANTEED.

Hope this helps you Sire and Godspeed with the operation. Cheers!!
