the only diff i could see btn mybook essental and home edition was firewire and esata in home edition.
will it make much diff.my friend has an xps1330.

well u seem to answer it urself. the diff between the home and essentional 500 one is 500 bucks only one is for 4500 and other for 5000 so its upon u to decide if u need the esata. i guess if i were u id take the jump and get the home edition since its a little future proof

Well, if the 1330 has firewire, then you migt be able to get faster data transfer speeds. Thats bout the only advantage you get for the extra cash. THe internal drive is the same. If you want the drive only for storing movies etc and can live with a bit slower speeds with USB 2.0, then you can safely skip the firewire/esata support :)
