hi guys i'm right now in swiss and badly need a notebook.
i went through the forum for notebook recommendations did quite a bit of research on it and still kinda in confusion... Firstly requirements is it shd play latest games like NFSMW and screen size shdnt exceed 15.4 and price range 2000 chf(1chf = 36rs)

i choose intel dual core and i'm confused between DELL inspiron 6400 platinum and ASUS A8JA-H009H
Dell inspiron spec:
intel dual core 2x1.83GHZ,
2x512MB RAM,
100GB SATA,
DVD±RW DL,
WLAN,
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 256MB,
WXGA (1280x800) 15.4"
Windows XP MCE (basic configuration)
Price :1'734.00 chf

Asus a8ja:
intel dual core 2x1.83GHZ,
2x512MB RAM,
100GB SATA,
DVD±RW DL,
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600,
14.1" WXGA (1280x768),
price :2'169.30 chf
Windows XP Home

I never used a laptop b4 and have no idea of the brands... My question is does the asus one with X1600 really make a lot of diff wen it comes to games... or X1400 will do and also should i go 15.4" or 14" cause i need a portable latop but how will be playin games on it.

I kinda have an idea about dell but is asus a good brand ??? and suggestions for a better laptop are always invited... Thanx a lot

Try to upgrade the dell to a X1600/7600 , the rest of the config is nice. Anything less than that will not play games well. And plus the screen on the Dell is much better.

get a dell discount coupon and get a sub 1500-2000$ laptop with a geforce 7900GTX Go

a) Techboy...coupons or no coupons....Fat chance you'll get a 7900GTX lappy for $2000....

b) Gadget prices tend to be higher in Europe than Indian prices...

The Dell 6400 is a nice buy...I don't know how long you are going to be in Europe, But if it is not a long stay, I'd suggest buying the lappy in India

Actually i get some 15% discount in europe so it will compensate for the higher price i guess... and i'll be here for 4more mnths so i have to buy here.

Abt the dell laptop... only X1400 is available cant upgrade to X1600. Can u guys tell me if i can run nfsmw smoothly on X1400 or do i need x1600 for tht.

and also asus lappy is lighter smaller and has a inbuilt webcam but i am not sure how good asus is... Or can u guys suggest any other lappy with better config...

I haven't seenanyone using an Asus lappy, though I hear the build quality is really good

How about taking a look at the Sony SZ240, it's a Go7400 but is way lighter and portable than your other two choices

Asus have better built quality and some good feature.. Dell have Better Display n Graphics, and are cheaper.

If u want good graphics which can play all the latest games then u need is atleast a X700. X1400/X1600 are cut down versions of X700 n wont serve u as a good graphics solution.

Which planet do you live in? X1600 is way way faster than X700. X700 is a DX9 PS2.0 part whereas X1600 is a DX9 PS3.0 part.
