Which OS ?

Hey everyone,

I am almost done with building up my rig .. i just need to know which OS i should install ? :)

The Config :

Q6600
Asus P5N e Sli
8800GT
4gb Patriot rams (2x2gb)
HX620 PSU
TRUE
HDD 80gig IDE

The usage will be for both rendering & gaming purposes .. so please tell me which windows version i should intall.

HDD 80gig IDE?? why dude?? anyway I feel Windows Vista is your only choice.. $ GB ram will go waste ( only 3 GB support on XP ) if you use XP..
 
^I'm gonna get rid of this IDE and get SATA 500gb + .. just want the comp running for now.

Which is more stable ? XP or Vista ? I want the best performance with max stability.

I have some backlog of games i wanna play .. how can i migrate them over to vista or that isn't possible?
 
Im using XP pro 64bit and havent had any problem till now (~4months) - No hangs, hard resets or bsods. Not sure how games would work on it though. But for stability, I would say XP 64bit is the way to go.

But based on some requirements, I might get Vista Business/Ultimate 64bit sometime later this year.
 
Dual Boot both of them, i guess new softwares & games will work on Vista,
the one that are not working u can use XP.........
 
but i think xp cannot manage newer systems efficient enough... i have a dual boot system & my vista is more responsive & almost every game works on vista... ( btw u hv the compatibility mode on vista too...)
 
i am not sure if 32 bit vista will utilize the extra 1 gig ram ...

as far as xp is concerned there is a tweak to make it utilize 4 gb of ram..look for it on the net

vista 64 bit does support 4 gigs ram

Vista 64 runs way better than 32bit vista on my pc . Just multiboot with xp 64 and see for yourself . Dont bother with 32 bit OS .
