I'm intererested in these models of Sony portable CD players.

NE240S / NE241S
NE330S
NF341B
NE520S
NE730S

(S and B generally refer to silver and black.)

Can anyone let me know how these players are if you have used them or currently are using them? Your feedback is much appreciated.

i have a NF400 i think

the F instead of the E stands for radio inbuilt

actually, any one is fine....just get something with a jog dial so that its easy to navigate through mp3 cds
and sony battery life is excellent, 35-40 hours easy with 2 cells

All of the CD players these days use only 1 AA battery. Part of their drive to limit damage to the ears due to excessive volumes used by people I think.

Hmm...I guess the F stands for FM tuner. The NF341 does have an FM tuner.

Do you find the bass excessive on your NF 400? Reason I'm asking is bcuz I tried out two CD players yesterday i.e. the Sanyo X300 and the Panasonic VP35 witrh my Creative EP-630 earbud phones. In both cases, the base was excessive and the music quality was very poor.

I'm no audiophile so I'm not asking for some fancy shmancy quality but even then, the sound was like what you get from old radios. Also, I was unable to take the volume to anything above 1 on both players. It just got too loud.

I'm beginning to think that the EP-630s are not to be used with portable CD players. Audio gurus what say?

^^no its not like that
i infact have a panasonic one as well.... it had really good sound quality

on the sony, volume is around 10-12 out of 30 for normal use
and on panasonic its 6 out of 25

and both models had xtra bass options and panny had a live one as well(which higlights treble and hence bass has a reduced effect)

just googled, i have this
panasonic sl-mv60
infact it sounds really good with my earbuds though it eats batteries for breakfast :)

What do you prefer? The sony or the panny? And what earphones are you using?

How would you describe the sound of your sony player?

i have the crossroads mylarone x3i

they dont have emphasized bass so they are fine with both players

i like panny sound quality but i prefer the navigation and controls on the sony player
the panny has perfectly balanced sound....i prefer it to my ipod nano :ashamed:
