I want to buy psu. The current one i have is of some crap company(iball 400W)

Is Cooler Master Extreme Power 460W good? :D

What about Power Safe 500W Gold SMPS?

btw this is my system config:

Intel 915GEV motherboad
Intel P4 630 3Ghz processor
1GB DDR 2 RAM + 512MB
80GB SATA HDD (will add 250 gb one when i get the psu)
XFX 8600 GT 256mb graphic card

one more question: Can i connect psu to mobo myself? or Do i need some trained guy for that? ;)

Go for Gigabyte Superb 460W 80% efficency ! Yes you can connect it yourselves as most of the connecters are fool proof, But if unsure consult any hardware wala !

CM EP 460- not good.
powersafe- no

Go for Zebronics pro 350 OR the gigabyte one mentioned above.

If you can extend your budget by 0.5k then buy Corsair CX400 for 3k. Else buy the Gigabyte one. One more thing I noted is that there are not any reviews of Gigabyte superb 460, dont know why.

Pro 350 will be more than enough for your rig. Lot of people are using pretty power hungry gcards like 9800GT with those PSU for more than 1.5yrs.

+100 to this one...for 2.2k..it's a steal really.

But giga 460 is actually an FSP 400W OEM. Though it claims 80%, it shud be for max 400W or lower. 460W is the max overloaded rating for it, and no way its gonna be 80% at those loads.

Anyway 2.4k is a good price for a 400W PSU. But for the kind of configuration he mentioned a good 350W PSU is more than enough. Pro 350 for 1.5k should do the job easily, and can also handle a mid range card like a 9600GT or 9800GT.

Get the facts right - the Gigabyte Superb 460 is not 80+ certified.

Yup, it isn't 80+ certified, but who said so in the first place? :)

It is more than 82% efficient according to the review posted previously.

+1 for the 350, it will do just fine. But get this: if u are upgrading soon, y not invest in a better psu now itself?
