Laptops which ram will work...on my laptop..

Hi guys
My frnd has an acer aspire with 256 mb ddr 2 533 Mhz ram..He wants to upgrade to 1gb ..so i want to know whether ddr2 667 Mhz ram will work with that laptop or he has to get 533Mhz ram for it..

be carefull i upgraded my toshiba no problem 1,5 gb but left it at 533 the 667 didn't work and acer are a bit of a problem more or faster ram gets hot
 
well, the simple fact is that if ur motherboard supports maximum 533 Mhz RAM then obviously u cant expect it to run RAM at 667 Mhz :p

Since both are DDR2, if u cant get 533Mhz RAM, u can safely put in 667Mhz RAM cos then it will simply run at 533Mhz, i.e. ur maximum supported speed..so no issues...

on the other hand, if ur mobo supports 667Mhz, then it will run faster :D do remove teh 533Mhz RAM n check...if new RAM runs at 667, then ur mobo supports...else it will run at 533 just fine. N faster RAM shouldnt have much change in temps........
