I just bought a Sony S Tablet and got 5 net wired internet connection at home. I didn't knew it needs a wireless connection. So I would like to know what I should do in order to use this tablet. If you people would say purchase a router then which router is the best to use at Mumbai home. Please let me know and how much would it cost. Also if you are using it then explain it to me also or help me set it up. Also I need a good case for this tablet. Suggest me a good one please.

Thanks in advance to u all for your help.

If you have 5 wired connection in your home which can't use wireless you are going to need a good router + a switch, as every SOHO router availible in India have 4 LAN ports at the back.

P.S. describe your home setup. DO you transfer files, media between two PCs or laptops or any end points? If yes, then how much. What is the speed you want to have? Do you need gigabit LAN or a 100mbps LAN connection would be perfect for your need?

If I knew about all these things then Y would I have come here to ask you all about wireless connection. I just have 1 desktop computer nothing else with 512 MBPS speed wired connection of 5net Internet service. I dont know what u mean by gigabit LAn or a 100mbps lan. I just need to know how to establish a wireless connection without any problem.

Just go for any basic router. I would advice for a gigabit router for best use if you plan to use 5 net DC. Cheapest I know of is a TP Link model. Else you can buy the ASUS N16 from chaztin

I just want the best of the best router which has good security which cannot be hacked easily. My house is juz 1 BHK 450 sq ft and it should catch a range. So which company router would be the best let me know. Budget is not an issue. Even if its costly I can afford it but it should be protective and secured enough. I went through this but don't have any knowledge. So it all depends on techies what do they say who knows about wireless routers well http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2398080,00.asp

Also I read this thread http://www.wirelessforums.org/wireless-networking-discussion/help-needed-selecting-router-128658.html & http://www.ampedwireless.com/products/r20000g.html

Buy ASUS N16 as suggested by vivek.krishnan. Don't worry about security of your wireless network, you can set them up once you buy the router.
P. S : It's not 512 MBPS just 512 Kbps.

Oh, sorry about that. I thought your 5Net ISP as 5 PCs in your house.

Anyway, putting aside that confusion I would say, you just need to buy a normal good router. Choice of router would depend on the budget you have for it.
Any good router will cover 450 sq feet with ease.

I'm suggesting some routers:

Low-end (cheap) router:

Tplink TL-WR740N: TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps Wireless N Router - TP-LINK: Flipkart.com
Asus RT-N150E: Asus RT-N10E Wireless-N150 Router - Asus: Flipkart.com

Mid-end router:

Tp-link TL-WR841N: TP-LINK TL-WR841N 300Mbps Wireless N Router - TP-LINK: Flipkart.com

Asus RT-N13U (B1): Asus RT-N13U B1 Wireless N with All-in-One Printer Server Router - Asus: Flipkart.com

High end router:

Asus RT-N16: Asus RT-N16 Multi-Functional Gigabit Wireless N with storage, Printer and media server Router - Asus: Flipkart.com

Asus RT-N53: ASUS RT-N53 Wireless Router - Asus: Flipkart.com

Note:
1. Cheap doesn't mean it is bad, but the price is low.
2. AMong these: Asus RT-N13U (B1) if my personal favorite as it offers vast range of service and very good performance at a descent price.

So these high end routers wil work with both wired & wireless right. Bcoz I have a wired connection at my desktop and want to use a wireless connection for my tablet. Budget is not an issue for me. Even if the best router is costing 50k I can afford it.

Yes all of the above routers will work with both wired and wireless connection.
The sequence should be
5net modem - >wireless router - > desktop & tablet.

All the routers suggested by me will work with both wired & wireless simultaneously. :)

guys earlier I had asked for router. So I had gifted it to my cousin. Do I still need to purchase the same router or are they any good new upgraded ones with more options. Money not a issue but need quality one with a long term warranty and can be used on multiple devices in a 500 to 550 sq ft home

This is a pretty good router in the same upper mid range.I have seen it in a friends' house and the performance was at per with mine(at least fro normal usage).

Marcus, can you provide me your friends num who has this so that I can ask him how to connect and everything
