Storage Solutions Which SATA DVD Writer to buy

I just ordered a Samsung SH-S203B.

Let's see how it is. After being LiteON fan all these years, this will be my first Samsung ODD. :D
 
as of now , there are no Sony drives :p

currently available Sony Drives

AWG-170/Ad-7170/DRU 170 series - NEC

AD 7190/DRU 190 Series - Liteon

DRU 840 - Samsung

Then some others are benq :p
 
look i have been using samsung SH-S203B and its great.Last week my bro did something and the writer stopped working.Went to samsung service centre and they replaced it the next day sooo the warranty also rocks

BTW, I wanted to get the Pioneer DVR-215D but, wasn't availalble. CDFreaks.com says highly of the sammy and hence, decided to get it. Rs. 1150/- is cheap. ;)

Dealer say's I'll get it by Monday. I was hoping to get my hands on it today :(

The SH-203 is great bought one yesteday for 1K in Bangalore.
 
I got 1 sata DVDwriters 4m lammy last week.

A Samsung SH-S203D for 1.1K

&

a ASUS DRW-2014L1T for 1.4K

I'm no pro with DVD writers but compared to both, I'd say ASUS rocks

Why...well I dunno *no pro* but just the feel, the way the tray moves, built quality, looks, LightScribe :D

If I had to get another drive, I'd go with the ASUS 20X, anyday ;)

The Asus rocks bcoz AFAIK they are rebadged Pioneers. The Pioneer rulez.

I didn't get the Asus LightScribe coz I don't see any LightScribe Media (CD or DVD) anywhere.

Do you know where we get LightScribe CD-Rs and DVD+/-Rs anywhere in Mumbai?
 
I saw some @ A&A Computors, Andheri(w). Haven't picked up any as m waiting to pick a new CPU 1st. All my CPUs (E6750 & E8400) are gone and m waiting for the price cut to take effect in Mumbai. Running my system on a E6400, ATM.

Can get the rates of LightScribe Media (CD & DVD) and posts here, 2moro.

Thanks dude. It would really be helpful if you post the rates of the LightScribe Media here (both CDs and DVDs).

Contact details of that vendor would also be helpful in ordering. :p
 
I just got the D version of SH-S203.

I mean I got the SH-S203D instead of the B.

Any major difference in the two? All i see is that the 203D doesn't have Mt Rainier.

Samsung website shows no difference in the two. :confused:

Yeah so far I got a 90 score in CD-DVD Speed Quality Scan on the crappy MBI -R 16x dics.

Just received the TY +R 8x discs from katmandude and looking forward to burn something on those.
