i am planning to buy a ssd ... preferable 64 or 80gb ,,, so which one should i buy????should i buy the intel x25 80gb g2 or should i look into other brand.....should i buy the indilinx or the sandforce controller???:huh:

plzz help me guys

Intel X2 G2 without doubt. You get local warranty as well. Indilinx based controller has an advantage over the sandforce based ones. Prime stocks it for 12.5k. That said, prices may drop during the next quarter. If you are not willing to wait until then, buy one right away!

I'm planning to do a go via KMD for the Kingston SSD V 64Gb once he starts taking new orders,this is the newer one with trim support and all.

It was $139 a while back actually,now its $149 which still a great Cost per Gb.

Kingston 64Gb@$150=>$2.35/Gb

Intel 40Gb@$125=>$3.125/Gb

Intel 80Gb@$220=>$2.75/Gb

My bad! :ashamed:

Just that I wanted to mention these controllers are relatively new and chances of finding a drive with a Sandforce based controller in India is nil. Not to mention the higher price tag of the drives based on this controller, even in the US.

should i get the ssd thru kmd or should i get the intel locally?????:S

any idea about the corsair ssd ( nova and performance series)????:huh:

The 40Gb one isn't going to be available locally anytime soon and they 80Gb ones prices went up last time I checked to 13k :-/

The SuperTalent one mentioned in the review isn't cheap,he just converted the price $175 directly without considering anything else.

Whats all this fuss about the controller btw?

Because the controller is the brains behind an SSD and decides to a large extent, as to how well it performs.
Till now Intel controllers had been the best as far as performance was concerned. Indilinx controllers were mostly used in value lineups while Sandforce controllers have been called revolutionary even though SSDs themselves are relatively young.
Sandforce controllers equal and even outperform the intel controllers while bringing a host of features to the table. Do hit up anandtech's SSD section. They have some great coverage.
