I don't think Force 60GB, 120GB & 240GB are Sandforce as sandforce was always 50GB, 100GB & 200GB

OCZ's vertex are of 50, 100, 200 capacities. Corsair's force series with the sandforce controller are of 60, 120, 240 capacities.. just launched a few days back I guess :cool2:

edit: just saw corsair already has 100GB and 200GB capacities in the same force series. :D

Actually, the Corsair Force 100GB drive itself is actually an 128GB unit and so is this 120GB. They had cut those extra GB for some performance and life span.

the same day i had posted about ocz ssd links i had asked prime about the force ssd. but i dint get any reply from them.

seems like they have updated their site with it & looks like i will go for the corsair 60gigs. what do you think? good choice?

am gonna get a lower price from prime tomorrow. lets see how much he reduces. its mentioned 11.5k on his site. is anyone else from mumbai interested??

its a good deal, but i am looking for something that is faster & with the new sandforce controller like the corsair. also 128gb would be overkill for me & also would prefer local warranty.
 
Get the ocz vertex 2 50gb via kmd and call it a day.SSDs seem to have a lesser failure rate than normal hdds,it would be even better in the case of the vertex 2,x-35 E and the likes so don't make local warranty a huge priority as there isn't much of an option available to you.

Thought I'd bundle my queries here :).

What do you guys think of the Crucial RealSSD-C300? I had put off buying an SSD due to a heavy workload and the absence of a power rig, but I'm back online on a i7/UD7/5870/Velociraptor setup and looking forward to definitely buy an SSD at the earliest possible. I was looking at the 128GB version of the Crucial. Will I be better off with a Patriot Inferno (100GB)?
My initial plan was to wait for the launch of SATA III SSDs and if the prices were too high, get price benefits on SATA II devices. But I've had enough of the waiting and second-guessing games...

Inputs would be highly appreciated.

By the way, anyone else find the Seagate Momentus-XT exciting? Looks to me to be a very good buy if worried about the space/ price constraints of an SSD.

in my opinion buy Corsair Force, OCZ Vertex 2, G.SKILL Phoenix or Patriot Inferno as Sandforce SF-1200 is really fast :)

Yeah I did read the review of the Momentus XT at Anandtech yesterday. In fact it was a very refreshing read after Anand had come back from his vacation. The site was mostly dull otherwise. This hard drive seems to give the ssds a good run for its money. More of a compromise in the space and money department I'd say. If you want the absolutely fastest SSD on the planet, that would be the Vertex 2 IINM. Isn't that Crucial old already? :P As in, does it not use the indilinx barefoot controller?

The corsair 60gigs force is gonna come in stock here in a week to 10days time. pricing is 11.5k according to prime. its the sandforce1200 controller.
 
Hang in for a few months and I'm sure we'll have hybrid HDD's with a bit more flash on them than the 4gigs the XTs have.

A 250GB 7200RPM Hybrid with 16Gigs of flash sounds perfect for me.. IF it retails for sub 150.

LOL absolutely true! :P

But then, if it's totally worth a wait, then drives like the Momentus XT would really appeal to the laptop users over the SSDs. :)
 
I think I'll go for the Inferno or the Vertex II. The Inferno's 2 years extra warranty seems sweet. Now to check for a good deal. If anybody's interested, please PM me or post here. Since I'm getting minimum two (buying one for a friend), we might be able to bundle our purchases :P

also dont u think it makes more sense to get the corsair force locally?
 
^^I'd rather opt for the extra 3 years warranty over local warranty. Way I see it, local or shipped, high end stuff do take around the same time. I've got more credit notes than replacements with "local" warranties. Of course, the pricing I can manage with the Infernos also matter. Lemme see what price I can come up with. If it ain't good, I'll bundle my order for 2 Corsair 120 gigs with anyone interested. All in the name of teamwork and better bargains :)
