Hi guys

So my dad needs a new car and he wants an automatic below 10.5L which limits my options.

His preference might be go for the cheapest but I don't really want to go that way.

The options I see are,

1. Verna EX
2. Rapid Ambition Plus
3. i20 Sportz
4. ANHC S
5. Scala RXL

So out of all these which are the top 2 when looking at the overall picture? (Which would include features, A.S.S., economy, reliability, drivability)

PS: We already own a pre facelift ANHC which would be sold off

Eye close Honda City AT, best in its class, anyway you can also wait for the Amaze, it will be out in next few days, 1.5-mill with 100ps output matched to AT-Gearbox will blow-off the competition, and top of the line ARAI certified 26kmpl fuel efficiency :D

Anyway can you post your detailed usage, monthly run, self-driven or chauffeur ??

Since you already own a honda city i would honestly prefer the verna since it would be driven by your father.

The reasons being -
1 - Tried and tested formula of hyundai
2 - Filled with gadgets to make a good driving experience.
3 - The design and the build quality is very good especially for a hyundai

Also take a good look at the ford ecosport AT.

^ Hyundai high-speed maneuverability don't provide you enough confidence , also the steering doesn't inspire much. The 4-speed AT being provided is hyundai is also no good :(

While in Honda city you get 5-speed AT with paddle shift, and you will surely love it :D :D

^ I kept the driver in mind on my comment. Considering its his father , i dont think he do be driving speeds of 130 + all the time to have problems with high speed manuverability. Another thing , i have driven the verna personally on a couple of my sub 200 metre trips where i have really stretched it and i found it to be just fine.

Also considering that they already own a ANHC it would not really give them the same new car feeling if they buy the AT ANHC.

I do still wait to check the ecosport AT when it releases.

How about the new SX4 ?
It ticks all your boxes except the features part . If its your dad driving i don't think he would mind it .
It has got the best engine in sub 10 Range .

Its about 10.4L on road Delhi .

Maruti's ASS is the most reliable not the cheapest though .
Verna will cost a bomb to maintain .

^ the sx4 is not the best engine mate.
In petrol the t-jet from linea and in diesel the rapid /vento engines are best in the segment overall. Not talking verna since it is rejected.

Was only talking about Petrol Here .
I Still believe everyone has their own personal perspective but according to me SX4's petrol engine is the best

Ps- Never driven a Fiat/Tata in the past 4 years and don't intend to

Well technically you have. The SX4 is a Fiat co-developed chassis :D
Not having driven something else isn't personal perspective, its just an incomplete perspective ;)

In any case, all the engine discussion is pointless since its going through a slushbox and Maruti still has the worst AT transmissions IINM.

Technically a major part of India is driven by Fiat. Swift/Tata's / Beat / Ertiga / Ritz . But still ASS Sucks . Regarding AT never driven a maruti AT , though manual SX4 is a beast .

Still Sx4 deserves a Test Drive .

IIRC ford fiesta also has a AT variant .

Verna is 1L more than i20 and has lesser features :(
Is that worth it?

The 4 speed gear box will no doubt screw the FE

The new SX4 looks ugly. No way will my dad get it

True, ANHC seems to be out as we have the pre lift one.

Waiting for ecosport but purchase isn't dependent on its launch.

A new model in the fray is Amaze V AT. It's going to be around 7.5l on road.
If only some one coule confirm if AT has a 1.5 or 1.2 engine

New list, now budget is ~10L

1. i20 Sport AT ~ 8.75L
2. Verna EX AT ~ 9.7L
3. Rapid Ambition plus AT ~ 9.7L
4. Amaze V AT ~ 7.7L
5. Ecosport AT ~ Unknown. Probably will be out of budget considering Overdrive

Petrol should be 1.2 . The same one on the brio and jazz .
Diesel AT shoul be 1.5 I-dtec
