if it is connected i think settings are ok
i think each application should be configured for the DOCOMO DIVE IN settings
or else try the 94 rs pack then all settings will be active.
i had my friend who had a samsung toco tac (not sure of the name):ashamed: he too had a same problem then he found out that each application had to sonfigure d to select the wap/gprs settings.
The same might be the problem with your phone.

Have a look at these settings posted by me for Vodafone on Nexus One...

have tried the same settings..

the Vfone Live is active..

although the apn type..there is no default option...

can select amongst 'internet', 'internet+mms' and 'mms'

none of them worked for me.

yup i have activated the monthly pack of Rs94

there is no individual setting for applications over android (or maybe im not aware of the same)

i guess i will have to stick to crappy 10MB/day FUP of virgin mobile for now.

will try to contact samsung about the same.

samsung spica users within mumbai... please confirm if you can avail any GPRS/Edge service over GSM Prepaid connection from Vodafone, Loop, Idea or Docomo.

im using android 2.1 samdroid right now

having issue with both 2.1 vanilla EDDJC5(the one that spica comes with now) and with 2.1 Samdroid mod

Re: Which VFM GPRS for mumbai GSM users?

last option
Type ‘DIVE’ in your mobile.
2) Send it to 52270.
3) They will send GPRS settings.
4) Save it.

also
MCC - Mobile Country Code
MNC - Mobile Network Code

Check-out the following, if they are any help to you. i too m trying to figure-out it for myself...

Complete list of MCC and MNC values

nope that doesnt happen either.
none of the Operators have support for android as of yet i guess.. hit/miss scenario i suppose.

i get msg about receiving settings from all Operators whenever i insert a different SIM..but that it about it..only the sms..

i will have to wait for a new month i guess.

on a different note..Vfone mobile connect seems to be working over androids.. but the rates are pathetic.
I will have to manage with the virgin till then i guess :p

Re: Which VFM GPRS for mumbai GSM users?

Well there is a catch in 16/- and 94/- GPRS recharge in Vodafone...you can use WAP settings (Vodafone Live) only to access the data...i.e. with APN portalnmms

And since Vodafone Live is not working, these plans are not suitable for you...and Vodafone Mobile Connect is quite costly...

Re: Which VFM GPRS for mumbai GSM users?

Docomo is now accessible after changing the APN to TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET from TATA.DOCOMO.DIVE.IN

will call CC and check if that makes any difference to their gprs tariff and update.

Re: Which VFM GPRS for mumbai GSM users?

Docomo All the way :hap2:, Speeds are good and the new data plans introduced yesterday simply pawns Airtel and other providers.

I have been using Docomo internet for over three months now, it's on EDGE by default in our circle, unlike Airtel which is still on GPRS. I used Airtel for 5yrs prior to this and speeds in one word SUCKS . Also i'm quite relieved with the overall experience with Docomo unlike Airtel where there was atleast one issue on daily basis and CC is plainly Bullshit. What I don't like about Airtel is the false charges like automatic offers activation, spamming with hello tunes service and much more . Ok enough Airtel bashing coming to the data plans

The difference b/w APN is that if you browse via TATA.DOCOMO.DIVEIN then your data plan is not considered and you'll be charged 1p/1kB regardless of your data plan.

You SHOULD use the a.p TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET if you have any data plans activated, esle you would be charged as per tariff.

Now coming to the new data plans :)

I don't understand the UNLIMITED gimmick that providers use, how much bandwidth would you use over a period of month with speeds 6-7kBps in case of GPRS and 20-25 in case of EDGE. Even if you use it 24x7 for a month it would never cross 2-3GB. You do the math, Unlimited is just for namesake IMHO :bleh:

For those of you worried about speeds you get :)

bump..

finally the gprs is working over loop.

have to activate their TruNet for the same..

FUp is too low though...

http://www.loopmobile.in/vas/GPRS.htm#pre_gprs

Speed is around 90kbps..

so i guess docomo remains unbeatable and vfm
Thanx for the gr8 info.....

Cannot rep u due to Spreading problem.... :(

But I really cannot configure my APN with the settings from the loop site.

Re: Which VFM GPRS for mumbai GSM users?

arre the profile name can be anything

apn = www as listed in the link.

keep everything else black/default.

no proxy etc.

but it will work only if you activate that TrueNet service. doesnt work with that 2GB free monthly thing.

speeds never go beyond 90kbps in my area.

check out docomo plans.

much faster and unbeatable tariff :)
