Camera Which Video camera to go for?

Well to start with I need to gift a Video camera to my father, and both of us have zero knowledge of a Video Camera. We just had one camera from Panasonice 10-14 years back, it had 63X zoom which was quite a big thing then, It had many shooting modes and came with a remote as well. Bought that one for around 40K to 50K. But after few years, it suddenly started shooting in black and white it has been kept packed since then.

Now my budget is strict to 15K and i need a good Cam to gift his on his birthday that is 17th Oct. Please suggest me some good cams possibly the one with HD or a DVD record option, and also from where to buy it cheapest in Delhi.

Thanks friends but wish i had got these replies in time. I had cash so i went ahead and bought SOny sr47e for 16.5K (without bill) from palika is working find in IMHO.

Also enquired from sony world they were giving it for 23K
