I am thinking about getting a broadband connection at my place, can someone else suggest some wfi + adsl modem which works seamlessly with all the broadband providers, especially MTNL, BSNL and Airtel. Wifi upto G is good enough for me.
Please also post the approximate market price for the suggested models.
Thank you.

Just go for any DSL product from Linksys or Netgear. Such as DG834 series from Netgear or AG300 from Linksys.

I have used various combos, including Netgear and other DSL routers. What I like best is the combination of any crap that MTNL gives + good old custom 'firm'ed Linksys WRT54G V3. You can do just about anything with it like built-in Peer Guardian, DynDNS, VPN and so much more.

Hi

You are thinking of buying at the right time.
Luckily for you there is a wide range of wireless gears for sale in the market section.
Just go through them, you will get a pretty good idea of the range, models and prices and will also be able to save a ton of money in case you decide to buy from them

beetel wifi + adsl router comes for 2200 is not bad considering you are content with G Router and 10/100 wired ports ....
Cheapest and best option yet is imho is taking router from MTNL / BSNL donot know about BSNL but MTNL is nowadays have some scheme where you donot have to pay anything for connection / wifi router and Rents are free on their unlimited plans... so if you decide to take say 512kbps unlimted connection from MTNL @ 999 you will get a free wifi modem/router for use... If something breaks down... they replace free of cost... Not bad service too...

I previoulsy had DSL 802T and DIR 300 combo ... but later on when i got my MTNL wifi router noticed that it is as good as that combo... and you have to switch on only one device... thats a plus point...

Do not buy this. This is not a ADSL modem.
I suggest you do not buy from ebay. The local shops wil sell it for much cheaper price

You basically have 2 options. either go for the
Netgear DG834G Rs.2900 (I have this one and its quite good. The range is also good. I get good coverage in my 2 storey house)

Linksys WAG54G2 this is 3k+. Dont know the exact price.

There is also a model from Buffalo which is supposed to be good.

VFM ... the one that BSNL Provides - single Device ...

DSL Modem - 4 Port Fast Ethernet Switch - and a b/g Access Point

Mfc. Nokia-Siemens or UTStarcom

Hi. I too want to setup a wireless home network so that multiple PCs can access the internet using a single broadband connection.

I've got two choices: One is to buy a "Wireless ADSL gateway" such as a Linksys WAG54G2. This is the more expensive of the second option; which is to buy a plain-vanilla wireless router and hook up my existing Beetel ADSL modem to it.

Can someone please tell me what advantage a "wireless gateway" offers over the cheaper wireless router+ADSL modem combo?

From what I can tell, the wireless gateway can function without a PC once configured, making it more aesthetic, whereas the cheaper option needs a PC to function in the first place.

Please tell me whether I am right, and please correct me if I am wrong.

The Beetel 450BX1 cost rs1500 with airtel connection or Rs1k for replacement with current Beetel 220bx
