So after the ban on sun control films, some of you must have removed them entirely and some of you must be persisting with whatever you had. My question is to those who have found a way around this by going for a lighter tint film. Which one have you gone in for and how much does it cost.

I was thinking of getting the current ones either removed or replaced with something less visible. I am using 3M CR70 on the windshield and it looks fairly transparent but it was costly. Might go in for the same but does the film on door windows justify the cost?

It's a bit offtopic, but I'd like to know whether people are bound to follow the ban? Because, I still see, private buses (School, Office etc.) and many cars with Black Window Films which is not a see through at all.

Can't answer this, no idea. But...

Was driving at Panchkula and suddenly this $%&$$###%% cop comes looking like a villager, ugly and stopped my car, started looking for the film on my side of window, continue'd trying to locate but couldn't find. I knew the film my brother got me hooked to was very transparent. You really have to concentrate or you can't see it. And in bright daylight, it was more difficult. Anyways this cop took 10 mins and finally found and and started scratching and pulling the film. Oh man, it felt like someone is stabbing me with a knife. That too Swiss Army knife. Sick!! Sick!! Sick!! Sick!! Sick!!

Hate this silly rule :'(

I got away with it till last November. Going to the international airport proved to be my undoing. Those pandus just scratched off on the film. Thankfully the windscreen was spared. I had to get all except the windscreen film removed. And there is increased nakabandi nowadays thanks to the coming Independence Day. Chances of getting fined are really high. I have dropped the plans of getting them back on.
Currently looking for alternatives......

I understand the film in illegal. But is taking it off, scratching etc bit too much? OR invading private property?

but those guys gave us enough time to get our precious films removed with delicate hands. imagine the amount of resources cops wasted in getting the job done themselves.

@Renegade you can install transparent sun control films but then those are illegal too.

I don't understand the logic behind transparent films being illegal.
P.S. - Never has any films installed on any of our vehicles.

It is pretty silly tbh. As if the guys formulating the laws had no idea about the fabled Indian Summer.
If there is any place in the world where you need the sun films the most.. it is def India. The car a/c's efficiency takes a massive nosedive without those films and it really is a no brainer to get them applied.

My car came without them, and since the ban had been in effect, i never got them applied. Been cursing those lawmakers everytime i have to venture out in the blazing Sun. :rage:

What about those 'roll em up' perforated sheets? Have seen em being used by some people.

LOL...this is India. There is no personal privacy and human rights..! Cop do what ever they deem wish. They take a key, and make a "Star" big one, on each window. One will remove it. Cure beats the prevention, is what India believes. Not the other way round.

Well I was caught yesterday for this and I could see at least 10+ cars drive away with a film much darker than the stock ones on my car. I was told by someone my car was caught because it did not have a Mumbai registration number but a Pune one.

Now even if transparent films are illegal :grumpy: then it makes no sense to pour in 10K on something that will get ripped.

Are double glazed windows available for cars?
More than the sides the top part of car needs to be dealt with first. Heats up the whole car like a microwave. Can't some good heat proof insulation be done to the top so no heat is transmitted inside the car?

From what I have heard and experienced......the pandus dont have much issue with your windscreen films. They catch people only for the side ones. And it is one stupid rule tbh. The criminals will still find some way to commit crimes in moving vehicles. What would be the next step by these lawmakers then?

I am currently using 3M CR-70 on the front windscreen only. Will probably get in on all windows in the near future,
