Why am i getting so slow speed in browsers ?

I'm on aitel 256 kbps unml.
While the speed on download accelarots and on BT is good, speed in Firefox, Operao or IE and in their default download mangagers speed is pathetic slow - around 9-10 kBps!
What is wrong ?
 
How many times have you noticed that the speed is low??

Do this --- Download 3 or more files at the same time using the integrated download managers. Then see the TOTAL d/l speed of the 3 files together.

Usually if the source is bad, then using this method, you can get a true picture of the download speeds most of the time.

I got new connection and it is same for me also.
It is always like that for me during day time but at night speeds improve.
 
when i ran two simulataneous downloads on the itegrated download manager, i got 10.5 kBps avg on each of them.
Fact was cancelling out one of them didn't improve the speed at all!
And to add more on that, i went to 2 speed tests sites, both of them gave me 10-11 kbps an avg for download :@

Should i try calling airtel on this or what ?

this problem occurs when b/w is not good at all and connectivity to you is poor u should complain for it.

i tried on 2 simultaneous downloads, both of them had 10-12 kbps each as speed, then i tried 3, it was still at 8-8-8 each.

But a single download won't go above 10-15 - No mattter what! I've tried several sources man.

Only download managers like DAP or Getright give it in full speed..And fortunately Bittorrent as well.

Though now on http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ i got a whooping 190 kbps for some ordd reason, maybe because its 12 at night...
 
The problem is the SErver your are downloading from. They support 12 - 15 kbps Max per connection. Thus in Download Accelarators, which use Multiple connections, you get higher speeds. Thus use Download Accelarators.

Btw.. http://speed.touchtelindia.net/ This test works for every1 ... lol....
 
not the problem. Sites like downlaod allow large file downloads and give very good speed on a single connection download
