Forum Feedback Why is search limited to only the last 6 pages ?

Was trying to find an older post of mine and was surprised there seems some arbitrary page limit of 6 pages ?

What good is that to anyone ?

Why is search so crippled on this site ?
 
This is quite simply the worst thing on this site. You log in after 24 hours, and you dont even get to see all the new posts.

I find it hard to believe that the forum cannot afford to have a better server or whatever it is you need to have a proper search function. Usually, people move forward with time. Here, it is going backwards. Earlier, we had a limit of 200 results. You would expect that by now, it would have increased to at least 400 or something. But NO! It is reduced to 150!

Crazy!! One of the reasons I'm losing interest in this forum.
 
Crazy! Search is the most server intensive stuff for any site. So yeah its crazy to increase it beyond a cutoff limit.

However we have set it to 250 now. Hopefully this should cover most new posts.

New posts ?

I was hoping to see all posts i have made on this site or of anyone else for that matter. Often times far better answers were delivered in the past. Nobody avails of them.

What you are saying is, if don't bookmark something then expect it to be lost in a month or so time ?

You need to look for ways to get this done, its possible on many other sites who have similar if not more members. Did i mention they weren't even tech ones ;)

btw a new omission i see : Multi Quote feature is missing has it been taken off?

edit : ooops it seems to disabled in few forums which are non tech related. my mistake.

i don't remember disabling that even there Doc :P

Many times, see i remember a few words a discussion was about and use that.

I recall one where godse was discussed, hmm must have been well over a year back if not more, what does the search show ?

the google search at least finds the word, but not the actual thread.

don't think that thread was removed, it wasn't even locked
 
you sure you doing it right? you have to click on quote link after you select the posts to be quoted and not click on go advanced
