Well I have a guess we were veering off towards Nazi discussions. Well the link Rocky provided explains.

Well Albert would know better, he stays in Europe and must have seen the mindless violence of wannabe skinheads...
 
Still the thread about the pope was pretty much innocent.Even the nazi-admirers amongst us(me included) were restrained.LOL.
Al should have a lil more faith in us.

This thread has more to do with " freedom of speech" scenario in present day italy. and how the sensible persons there are fighting this infringement on their fundamental rights.
I will wait sometime more for reply from somebody from the staff .....

Hey DJ,aint fair :P ,my thread was not bad,I can't help it if someone puts gory details in there.The thread was about a valid animal rights issue.

Well UT i have nothing personal against your thread. but even you agree that some gory details posted there subsequently is well , not pleasant and should have been moderated long time back .....

A piece of very friendly advice - very friendly I emphasize and please I don't want you to take the slightest offense bcoz I really don't mean any.

I know it's a free world, India is a free country etc....but just want to tell you from my around-the-world-experience that the Nazi topic is a very sensistive one in Europe and and in continental America. So, please give everything a serious thought before you formulate and/or express your opinions.

Of course, I reiterate, it's a free world and you're welcome to have your own opinions...

Well Al hates Nazis and he WILL block anything with the word NAZI in it.Thats his position,according to his PMs to me for the earlier NAZI post.
Anyway,with the way search engines work too much use of the word Nazi aint good for any site,esp. if its based/hosted on European servers(or is it?)

wht shud be taken note of is tht thrs a lot of trolling nd thread-jacking goin on (u knw who Undertaker nd mostly all knw tht).....but still nuthin has been done about it......

I don't agree woth closing the thread. I think it was the wrong idea - are we supposed to delete all chapters on Nazism from our history books? No - we teach it - as an evil.
This thread was in itself not offensive. It simply mentioned a controversy that was raging. Moreover the thread was not about whether the Pope was a Nazi or not, rather about whether a ban should be allowed or not (BTW UT agrees with censorship, something I don't).
 
I personally dont care about hitler, nazi, or whether a german is made the pope or a dark skinned african ......
but why is that thread closed ...if any references to nazism , skinheads etc....is not in good light then that post can be edited and the user warned.

Jedi , what does the political or socio-economical scenario in europe has any relation or bearing to us indians ...????
When the europeans and their media can make fun of our poverty, caste system, child labour , tantrik rituals etc, ....why cant we discuss the same about them objectively ????
imho, The american defense personnel and the republican party there has committed far greater human rights crime

in the last 35 years , starting from the vietnam war. The invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq and the subsequent murder / torture/ rape of millions of innocent civilians there, being the latest example.

so by the same logic we should not be discussing anything related to America here. it should be taboo too......(oh my gosh what will happen to my newegg purchases !!!!)
no my friend this is not correct. although the political leaders there from Nixon onwards committed far greater crimes than even the nazis , they did it for their personal benefit and for the prosperity of their close friends and associates. but the "guy on the street" there (usa) were and still against this war mongering. so it is the guy on the street that matters and not some barbaric action of political leaders and their "chamchas". we know the "common man / woman" in usa is basically honest and god-fearing and abhors violence (well most of them anyway). hence we "overlook" these lapses. but remember they too had their ku klux klan, (or something similar (and far nastier) to what the skinheads are in Europe currently)
and not to mention the "barmy army" of the british. their

methods and tactics will put any skinheads to shame. i know personally an indian family incident. a few years ago

after a soccer match those lunatics were as usual returning from the stadium in their usual rowdy manner. they entered an indian owned shop. heated arguments lead to fisticuffs , which lead to knives and broken bottles being pulled out. that indian shop ownwer and his two assistants (indians) were buthchered and the shop ransacked.

his wife there went into shock, returned home subsequently and after a few weeks committed suicide.

they had 2 tiny kids at that time.
so by the same logic should we not, as indians, ban all british soccer and its discussion here. ??

i dont think so.
hiding or "brushing under the carpet" these issues wont make the problem go away........
so whether it is Hitler , Goebbels, Himmler , Rommel (one of the greatest generals of the 20th century), Hess, SS , Nazis or whatever....banning the objective discussion of it here makes no sense . far greater crimes were committed by these third grade European countries themselves (where nazism etc is taboo now) in the past. remember jalianwala baug massacre anybody ???? or the slaughter of the many south american countries by the spainiards.
and not to mention the plunder and loot of Algeria by the french in thw 1950's (after the WWW II !!!!).

and now these same countries and their sympathisers want to "impose" their moralistic views upon us ??????
imho, and i say this after fairly reading and understanding many books (books written by western authors are biased and trash. read up on some german, austrian and eastern european authors)is this. Hitler had the balls to fight back the western imperialist powers (treaty of versailes). he did not "willingly" start the war. he was forced to retaliate. his greatest crime was that he overlooked the human rights crime committed by some barbaric members of the party headed by him. for which he rightly paid the price by his head.
so AL please tell now why did you lock that thread ??
( I personally do not understand his views on nazis or skinheads since he has not mentioned that to me, all i know is that he is scared of thier tactics , understandably, since he lives amidst them and seen their deeds. hence i will not go into all that)
 
Well American war crimes aside,it was STALIN who was without doubt the greatest criminal of the 20th century.Atleast Hitler for all his misdeeds somewhere had his country's concerns on his mind.Stalin,on the other hand sent millions of his own countrymen to their deaths for no reason whatsoever.It has been proven that Stalin killed more people than all of Nazi Germany.
In the same vein,what about massacre of Hindus by Muslims in Pakistan(at Jinnah's behest) ,China's unparalleled human rights abuses in Tibet,Pol Pot in Cambodia...
And we may never know how many Hindus were actually killed by the Mughals.
Naipaul has even suggested that it was the biggest holocaust in History,far greater than that of the Jews by the Nazis.

First of all:all this "nazi" pope did was join the hitler youth for a few months when it was compulsory to do in Germany.Doesn't necessarily make him Nazi.

With the above replies + how dont you see any harm? dont you relize there are people from all around the world here?didnt you read those replies?there are people on our forums
