Linux Why you use Linux?

Simple question:

Why you Linux OS(any distro) ?

My answer:

* Because its much safe & secure. no threat of viruses:P

* Don't have to install a new OS at regular intervals. so no risk of losing data & custom settings

* Its stable and crashes rarely

* Lastly, Freedom of Choice. can customize everything according to ones own liking

What are your reasons to Switch to Linux?

My reasons:

Is very stable and does not hangs (like in Windows)

Very secure (No need to install any bloated antivirus and antispyware)

Very good driver support

FREE

Well there are n reasons for me :P

- Fast n Optimized - They say Ubuntu is bloated so go figure how fast others are :D

- 0 Virus Problem, I dont pay for stupid license to remove the crap which should not be there in first place

- Excellent Security - I dont need to say anything on this

- Excellent Open Source Software Library - Heck they are free n Open Source, windoze half time I ended up cracking apps which were useless:/

- Install n Forget it - Dont forget to use it :P

.............

also if u like to keep fiddling and learning with the system its an excellent OS :D

BTW I feel this year Linux Desktop Users will reach new record high :P

* Because it's Free and free and open source.

* Because I'm a tech/software enthusiast and you can play with/modify it any way you like.

* It pretty much performs way better than, say, uh, Windows and I say that not just as a user but as a software developer that writes code which runs on both platforms.

I use it for all the above mentioned reasons. My only gripe with Linux (read Ubuntu) is that there is no support for my webcam and I cannot use it for video calls. :(

That is the only reason why I have dual booting with Windows XP. I need to video call a lot, and Linux just doesn't cut it.

Because manufactures/Vendors won't supply Linux drivers nor share information about their device architecture(required for writing drivers) with Linux developers, who are ready to write those much needed drivers on their behalf that too for FREE.developers are even ready to sign Non-Disclosure-Agreement(NDA) to protect IP rights of these companies but still companies aren't interested.

the good thing is, those kind of vendors are rare and alternative hardware is usually available. so the best thing to avoid such products. we don't need them anymore:)

-It's Free.

- Safe & secure and it hardly crashesh. I use windows as primary OS, for games and other things.

- Various free open source softwares are available. I find some of them better than what you get on Windows. :)

- Looks cool. Desktop can be nicely configured, add to that various effects you get.

- Future Potential of Linux OS.

- Programming.

1. its free

2. it works for me (mostly)

3. to stick it to microsoft :P

4. don't have to worry about viruses

5. reasonably fast

+1 LT, I too because I can
Other reasons are:
  1. No major security threats
  2. Fast boot and shutdown!
  3. Amazing GUI. GNOME+Mac4Lin FTW!
  4. Awesome multimedia experience with XBMC on Ubuntu 9.10
:hap2:

I am just a Show Off. :kid:

No real reason behind it. Just that i like change sometimes. Thats why i use both, Windows and Ubuntu as per need.

1. Suits the kind of things I do.
2. I can tailor it to do whatever I want.
3. No buying SDKs and Documentation CDs. Everything is out there for you to read, understand and improve upon.
