Juggernaut
Need advice on deciding on a wi-fi capable device:

1)Needs to provide a good browsing experience.
2)Should be capable of downloading from Rapidshare premium account at speeds of 256kbps via an app or a software in the case of WM.

Now i would have gone for the itouch with eyes shut had i been sure of the second point. Also a phone that too a WM is gonna be a costly affair, so would really like to go for an iTouch if someone could clarify about the second point stated above.

Also max budget for the device is 12k and the only worthy contender in the phone section was HTC Touch 2 T3320 special edition. Apparently it's cheaper than the normal edition so something is surely amiss here.

Also have no qualms about buying a secondhand product from the TE market itself until there are no visible scratches.

So please guide me as i need to make use of the amazing net connection courtesy my college.
Haven't looked at other wifi capable devices because if spending this much money would like to have a device with an app rich environment.

Kindly suggest me the right device and in case of a phone which model exactly.

Thank you.

iPod Touch. But to be honest do not use this kinda device as a downloading machine. It will simply dies coz its not meant for that kinda job.

He means that the flash memory on these devices (iTouch, mobiles) is not designed for heavy read write operations like our hard disk and this results in short life of these products...

Some guy few months back had posted about a torrent downloader on symbian phones as it consumes least power for downloading but he had a bust flash card/mobile after sometime.

Precisely my point....

These handheld devices are not meant to be download rigs. You'll just end up blowing that money.

If you want a good handheld device for browsing, then get the iPod Touch. Whatever one may say, nothing beats the browsing experience on it. Except of course the Nokia N900.

Setup a cheap download rig for your piracy fix.

well i already have an atom rig but my parents won't allow me to take it to college.

so anyways it's fine i won't use it for downloading but it think the itouch wins hands down for browser experience.also can someone tell me how is the book reading experience on the touch

yes you better not use it as download device. for book reading, you can check kindle app (paid books), ipdf

just curious, how long can a memory card survive the ordeal of downloading if i go for a winmo phone and can it be replaced under the warranty conditions.

Warranty will not get void but do you know what happens in India when it goes for warranty :ohyeah:

Besides the memory it would put enormous strain on the battery too . With Netbooks starting at 14.5k , there seems no point in going for a 12k handheld device as a download rig .
