Wierd internet problem

I have a Dataone connection on my Windows XP which was working without any problem. The connection has been set-up as "always-on" connection, so I dont have to connect it everytime.

However since yesterday the connection shows up on my task bar as "Local Area Connection - Connected". But Im unable to access Internet with any browser or messenger. However if I use a internet proxy for a browser, the browser is able to open pages.. wierd? What is wrong here?
 
Wierd, That problem got fixed by itself. And now a new problem..

The Dataone connection keeps changing every few seconds from

1."Local Area Connection is now Connected" to
2. "A network cable is unplugged", to
3. "This connection has Limited or no connectivity"

It keeps changing every few SECONDS.. :o I don't think its because of loose connection, coz I've checked the cables. Secondly it happens at times. It happened last evening..Was working fine this morning.. Happens now again..!
