Wifi adapter UWA-BR100 signal issue

Hello guys

The uwa br100 wifi adapter which was faithful for around 2 years for my BRAVIA EX65 suddenly started acting up, but it works fine when checked in my PC with 3rd party drivers found in the internet. So it is confirmed that it is working when it is near the wifi router. But when it is used with my bravia which is 15 ft away from the router, it fails to detect the router. There is another bravia EX52 in another room which is in the same proximity but same issue.

I dont know whether i can get it repaired. Is there any way to use my Bravia with another wifi router like the tplink 3420 in repeater mode ?. The router which has to be connected is the 1043nd tplink.

Is the above the better way or, its better to get the wifi dongle ?. Is there any wifi adapter at a low price in substitution for the br100 ?

thanx in advance.

Do you mean EX650?
If there's an ethernet port on your TV, you can configure the MR3420 to act as a wifi client and connect the MR3420 via LAN cable to the TV.

Thanx mate.
I haven't tried that but I am aware that it can be done. However I doubt streaming will be on par with the br100.
Have you checked it ?

Moreover I have to make arrangements for space and wall socket. It has an Ethernet port but I think it is located at the back of the lcd which is an inconvenient location.

Finally i was able to connect my cousin's 3420 with my ex650 and it works excellent . The ethernet port is located in a convenient position and it is very convenient to plug in.

Now is there any cheap and best solution than the above router 3420 ?. I am aware that there are routers with single antenna, and IMO the dual antenna's would fare better.

Since the main router is a TPLINK , in order to be on the safer side for better portability it is better to go for a TPLINK product, is it not ?. In such case please suggest a good wifi router with WDS bridging.

What about repeaters, range extenders mate ?. Is it better than the wifi router solution ?. I am able to wire the 3420 to the TV and it works fine and even other devices when connected with this router works, but if i use the uwa br100 dongle to connect to this router , it detects the router but no internet connection. Dont know why

So i would like to know for my use, its better to go for a repeater/range extender (are these same ?) or just a wifi router like the 3420 ?

Thanx

Just a wifi router like the 3420 that can work in client/bridge mode.

Using a repeater to repeat the signal so you can use the UWA-BR100 is pointless since it adds more hops which drops net throughput.

Thanks eddy

But there is a new version of the 3420 router with a new design. Is it better to get it or some other router minus the 3g ?. Because yesterday, the router stopped working in wired as well as wireless mode and was not able to make any connection to it via wired or wireless . It gave only APIPA address. So i didnt have any alternative other than to reset the router and as of now it is working fine. Dont know how long this would last before i have to reset the router and repeat the settings from scratch.

Initially i thought of getting a router with 3g as one or the other day it might come handy when i am getting a 3g dongle. But now after this incident, i dont want to compromise on a good router which does the WDS part flawlessly for a router which has 3g like the 3420.

Which one would you recommend which doesnt drop or require the user to reset it frequently apart from performing a good job in the WDS part ?
