Hello,
I'm looking for buying a WiFi ADSL2+ Modem + Router within 2k.

I have selected http://www.flipkart.com/tp-link-td-...outer/p/itmd9tnkhmhmhhhm?pid=RTRD9TDS5ZZGYMJY after reading similar threads on various forums.

Let me mention, that I don't need long WiFi range, I just need WiFi for using my Smartphone. I'll connect the PC using LAN. So investing in a 300Mbps router doesn't justifies my usage.

I'll be using this Modem + Router with Airtel Broadband in Kolkata.

Cooling is must for me, as I'm a heavy downloader.

Please tell me your views upon my selection or if you have any other suggestion.

Assuming you are a Linux User.........
I found the below;
When Modem cum Router / Router is used for Downloading, Response for Other activities will be very Slow, Is it Correct ?

I tried with TP-Link Tl-8968, Asus RT-N13U, Dlink 2750U. I unable to Get Desire Results.

Then concluded,
Basic Modem Rs. 700 - 900 [May get 2 No Used]
8 port Giga Switch Rs. 1500 to Rs 2500
Atom Based [GigaLan Preferred] cpu with Wifi Lan Card [150/300/Dual Band] as per your requirement, Rs. 4500 to 9000/-
Is it a Good Hardware Combo, with ~200% extra power requirement.

Presently, I am trying ArchLinux to Configure NAS, Downloading [torrent & pyload], XMBC, Webmin.

ok, so you're building your own media pc.

Now what about the wifi lan card ? intel based is best with ability to attach external antennas.

You got the right product but your above comment lead us to think otherwise :)

Going by the specs the only difference between the 8961 & 8968 is the extra USB port & 3G.

The wifi performance should be the same. Its decent for an adsl router and people with basic requirements.

Yeah. Setup is easy..!! No issues. Even a noob can do that with CD. Geeks like us prefer Manual from Web Interface..!!

how much?
from where?

From Chandni Chowk.

performance?

Well, it's just been today. So let it pass a week or month, then I can comment. Tough performance will be same as that of 8961. As already mentioned by @blr_p the difference is only in USB and 3G Support.

installation ease?

Too easy. No issues at all. Noobs prefer CD and Geeks prefer Web Interface.

what sort of coverage area?

Will tell you that at night. After I test it.
