I have a sony Bravia LED tv , I want to connect it to my wifi network , it needs a usb wifi receiver , i checked out in the sony website and it showed UWA-BR100 wifi dongle which costs 3k. Is there any cheaper options, the other brands like netgear or dlink will work with my TV? please help

What do you want to stream to the tv ?

The difficult thing here is other dongles won't have drivers that the bravia will understand and there is no way to install those drivers on your tv anyway.

Am amazed to see that this dongle is a 2:2 Atheros !!! dual band even....Damn!

FK has it for 2.9k, says its N150.

the netgear which is dual band n300 goes for Rs.3.2k

Check out the wifi-cert for UWA-BR100 as per the Nov 2012 and you will see its indeed a dual stream, dual band dongle.

No other dongle will work except that sony one and sony is selling it for less than the netgear (!)...

this is the part i don't get...
