Wiimote acts as a telephone in Red Steel

Who wants to bet that the Wii earns nintendo more money than its competitors get from their consoles?

Well that is old news in a way. Nintendo's mainline consoles have always made them money (don't bring in VirtuaBoy!!). And MS lost money on the Xbox (1)...

Wii is cheap to manufacture, and from the looks of it will lead in sales at least till end 2007 until Ps3 gets a price cut and picks pace. Though, this will be Ninty's required break after gamecube.

I think the Wii will initially garner a huge amount of sales but every console marches on it's games and I'm still not convinced we will see a lot of support from third party devs.

Also, I think MS and Sony are losing a lot more on thier consoles this time around so I don't expect any price drops in the PS3 by the end of next year. A clear example is how everyone expects the X360 to have a pricedrop for the PS3's and Wii's launch and yet there isn't the slightest indication of that happening.

I think we will see a lot of smaller 3rd party devs supporting Wii. Developing for the other two is getting more and more expensive. MS has started trying to make this easier with XNA, and Sony seems to have no interest in doing so. Nintendo on the other hand has always been easy to develop for. People might just turn there rather than spend millions elsewhere. How that will affect Nintendo's sales (small devs rather than big ones) is the 100 million dollar question.

Yeah, the question has always been whether Nintendo taking the Wii in a different direction will only further alienate them from devs pushing for multi-platform games or attract devs looking to make a cheaper game.

I really want Wii to sell more than PS3 or XBox.... but I really doubt that. With all the money put into marketting the PS3 & Xbox its gonna be tough for Wii... Less money put = Less developers

It really doesn't matter which system is easier to develop for, or which system is the cheapest for that matter, because if it did, gamecube wouldn't have finished last this generation.

Ps3 is almost sure to win now, but it WILL struggle for the first couple of years or so.

This is what famitsu has to say :

Enterbrain, publisher of respected Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, believes Sony's PS3 will outsell both the Xbox 360 and Wii in a tight next-generation console war. The non-analyst figurehead of the company does expect Nintendo's Wii to lead in total unit sales through March of 2007, however, due to the PS3's limited initial availability and high launch price.

Said the Enterbrain president in a seminar: "The PS3 will have a tough time globally at the initial stage. Its launch titles in Japan and exclusive software titles overseas are quite limited. But its overwhelmingly realistic graphics will give it a long life span. It will stay competitive even when a game console battle breaks out among a newer generation of machines in 2010. Sales should grow every time Sony cuts prices.

I never said a cheaper console would end up being the winner of this gen. If anything, I'm even more unsure of Ninty's success this gen. It's the games themselves(gameplay wise) that will decide this gens winners.

I think the PS3 might win this time, if only by a small margin.

LOL. That is reason enough to completely disregard everything he said.

I think you guys are missing out on one thing - game development costs. Ease of development was ok to disregard as long as costs were not sky high. But now they are. And there is a limit to how far you can push up game prices. So low cost games will see some activity. What I see happening is a lot of small game devs migrate from flash and mobile gaming only to X360 community style games and Wii. That of course will not drive sales too high (of the console) but it will keep them from falling too low.

And then there is the simple fact - even if PS3 and X360 outsell the Wii 10:1, they will just still break even. While Nintendo will make money all the way. If you want to predict the largest seller, look at Sony. And if you want to see whose annual financial report shows a profit, look anywhere BUT Sony.

i actyually heard about speaker during golf games where u can swing the wiipad and can hear the "wooooooooossssshhhhppppp" (:P) sound as if u are swinging the golf club . . agai all this can take gaming toa new level altogather:D

Basically, Nintendo took an idea which they had a long time ago (Bring VR home!) and decided to do it properly and with full commitment.
