Will 8.4V/2A damage Sony A7M4 ?

I want to use my camera as webcam on normal days and for this setup I did got the elgator Camlink 4k. Connected the camera via HDMI port to system and attached the usb-c charging cable to the 5v charger which came with the camera.
Result: Camera shut down after 3 hrs or so usage. which I think is not that great.
What I know is camera requires a 7.4v which the battery provides. If I need to replace it with dummy battery, the charge require should be around that.
I found some dummy battery or the kit without charger and all of them claim to be around 8.4V/2A . If I pair it with apple PD charger which I think gives 9v/2A, will this damage the camera ?

The camera might be turning off due to heating. And using higher amp charger might increase the heat output.

Rather than buying a dummy battery, conduct the same test with a higher rated charger and check if the camera runs longer.

placed an order for apple. lets see. I hope 20watt is sufficient for the same as the one from Sony is of 5watt :(

did a 12hrs to 13 hrs of testing with the apple charger and found 1 % battery drain only. now the thing I would like to know is how this prolong use effects the camera sensor and the battery. I was testing the camera without a single shutdown due to high temp or manual shutdown.

Battery should be fine because it is charging and discharging at the same time. Power cycles affect battery more. Also battery will cheap to replace if at all it goes bad. same may not be true for the sensor. The poor sensor might be getting cooked inside from running for 12 hours straight. If you get the overheating warning, better to shut the camera down for some time.

I think its a bad idea in the long run cause your camera can go bad from the prolonged use. Buy a webcam.
Use a product for what its intended for. just my humble opinion

Just my two cents but even though stuff works on direct power aka without batteries its best to use it with batteries as product is designed that way. I have often see laptops conking off due to this behavior where users do not care on replacing batteries and months down have to deal with charging circuitry issues and ultimately replace the entire mobo.

webcam not giving the quality required. also now a days camera manufactures are giving the webcam facility as they are also aware that people use camera as webcam alot !

I am thinking the same. just the heating of camera is real and on standard mode it will turn off within 10 mins or so. but if setting changed to HIGH, then no issues of shutdown. but camera does become warmer. I think this is due to the heat displacement plate. That's the only issue I have.

I don't use it for so long. Yesterday was just a test run done to understand how will the apple charger work. what settings I should use. and how long it takes to discharge the battery if using the usb-c while streaming.
Mereko lagta he, Barf (ice) lagana padega back plate pe ;)
