Will a better router mean better video quality

Hi,
I just bought an iPad the other day and to my dismay there isn't even a single app that let me access my files over Wi-Fi and play using the iPad's hardware. So right now what i do is use Remote Desktop to play the content on my PC and watch it on my iPad.
However the quality, though much better than those apps which convert those videos on the fly, like VLC Streamer or Air Video, still isn't close to what i was hoping to achieve.
I use a very basic ( read cheapest) WiFi router from TP Link. The max speed i get when transferring data over WiFi is just 2.5 MB/s. So i was wondering if that is the culprit and can changing the router to a better one increase the video quality/decrease the choppiness of the video being played.

Their is this app

Air transfer plus
Ifiles

I use them both. It gives wifi file transfer with drag and drop facility. And works way faster.

Get them and congrats on your iPad.

Many video player can transfer content over wifi,I am using AV player for more than a year with an old ipad2.

Your router has very little to do with what you cannot play and what you can. Its your PC, which should be serving up the files. So install either a DLNA software (Easiest way out, but the PC has to be kept on all the time) on the PC or get a separate device like pogoplug/Go Flex Home which has the ability to share your stuff over wifi.

On the other hand, you could just dump the iPad and get a Nexus 7, share the folders containing the videos on the PC, and just use ES File Explorer + MX Player on the tab and view them :P

Damn it. Whats wrong with TE. I have been typing these really long replies trying to explain what i meant in the OP and it says - "The message you entered is too short. Please lengthen to at least 4 characters.

He does not need Android for such simple things!!
Android is for real geeky stuff!
Happy?

Frankly speaking i really do. There is not even 1 app on iOS that lets you do what the combo of ES File Explorer and MX Player does on Android.
All the solutions provided by iOS( I have bought apps worth 1k already) don't let me watch a file on a remote server by using the iPad's hardware without copying the file.

I have bought AV Player HD and it needs the file to be transferred first. Adding insult to injury is the fact that iOS doesn't have true multitasking so while the file is being copied, you can't do anything else.

Streaming apps need a server side software that converts the video on the fly and uses CPU power and damn, even then the quality is worse.
The only alternative that i somehow i like was that of using Remote Desktop to watch videos and hence my above question.

Skifta has launched for ios,you can try it.
But why are you having problem with Airvideo?
My only Windows machine is a 3/4 year old laptop, even that can handle Airvideo!!

Yeah man. It sucks big time. Someone suggested me to buy a Mac Mini because Air Video runs so much better on it. I am buying a N10 tomorrow. Also i have the option to trade this for a Samsung Ativ 500T. It is an Atom based hybrid tablet, lightest of them all and runs full Win 8.

I should have waited but i took the plunge instead. Anyways it is better this way. At least i know now that i am too accustomed to the freedom of Android. If this could have been jailbroken, it would have been a totally different story. but that itself is a big 'if' these days.

Where exactly was the problem!?
I can name at least 10 programs which can solve op's problem.
Lets start with Fusion stream and Media:connect.
Both of them work flawless.
Now coming to Android, can anyone find a single remote desktop app which works perfectly with both Windows and Mac?
@op,dude,spend little time with uncle google,he is really helpful with these small matters.

why would android want to support an obsolete operating system? for Windows I don't use it but if you are willing to bet I am sure I can find a perfect remote desktop for Windows

Actually you can't even comprehend what I am trying to achieve so don't tell me to Google it.
I have already and there is nothing that can be done from the 'Apps' perspectve and hence i asked the question whether changing my router will work wonders.

Please don't turn this into an iOs vs Android thread. The apps you mentioned don't do what i need them to do. I have explained in the other thread what exactly I am hoping to achieve.

As for your question, Wyse Pocket Cloud PC has the identical same app for both iOS and Android and it is one of the best and costliest app for Remote Desktop use. Costs 790 in the iOS store and i have used it quite extensively since the last 2 years on all my Android phones.

OP, I'm an android fanboy, but even so, there should have been some research on your part before buying an iPad. Criticizing iOS will do you no good, as these restrictions have existed forever.

As far as your original question is in concern, no, getting a better router will not mean better video quality.

My apologies. My other thread in the Tablets section is better worded.
