PC Peripherals Will a VIP 400watt Gold psu be enough for this config?

Beginner
config:
Intel pentium dual core e5300 2.6ghz
Gigabyte g41m2esl motherboard
1x2gb ddr2 ram 800mhz
500gb sata hard disk
gpu: xfx nvidia gt240

I dont mind disconnecting my dvd-rom n floppydrive to conserve power. Pls dont suggest corsair or cooler master unless they are under Rs1500 as it will be out of my budget otherwise.

Going for the VIP in these times, when good quality entry-level PSUs are plenty, just doesn't make sense. Would have suggested the FSP Saga II 350W but that seems to have been discontinued. Next best bet is the FSP Saga II 400W for around 1.9K. Worth the extra 400 bucks!!

Another alternative is the Gigabyte Superb 460, should be around 1.7K. Finding it might be a stretch though.
 
^^ Good choices but the Gigabyte Superb 460 OEM piece is still a FSP Saga II 400W ~ 1900/-, so OP can buy whatever he finds first, the FSP Saga II 350W ~ 1650/- is still available though not very widely as most people end up prey to cheaper Zebronics and VIP offerings.

Yes, the 350W has disappeared from most online PC peripheral stores as well. And even that exceeds the OP's strict budget of 1.5K. Here's hoping he settles for either one among the above options rather than some VIP make.
 
I had recently bought FSP SAGA II 400W (@1.9k - TheItWares,Mumbai) for the config in my siggy.....

+1 from my side for FSP....
 
VIP Gold 400W would be sufficient for your rig... but if you are getting a new PSU I'd suggest you to go for the FSP SAGA II 400W

Got one from PrimeABGB for 1.7k last month
 
The VIP Gold is probably still an L&C unit. Not worth it now in light of the better options.

If you're spending 1.9k for an FSP, you might as well bump up a bit to ~2k and get the Corsair CX 430 V2.
 
You might have to skip the VIP because AFAIK, its not a real 400W SMPS, but a 300/350 one just rebadged and sold as a 400W one. This was from the VIP PSU guy in LR last year.
