Will American Amplifier work in India?

You will need a voltage converter. You can even get one custom made. Someone recently got 1 for an amp only I believe. Dont remember who though :ashamed:

How much would it cost? Amazon US has a 500 Watt Step UP Step Down transformer going for 25 USD approx 1250 Rs. Would I be able to buy one here for the price?

Just asked my local electrician to make a step down transformer for me. He stated that there are two options:

1) Regular Step Down: Voltage range between 110 to 140 V

2) Electronic Stabilizer Controlled: Voltage range set to 120 V

I am not a Electronics Engineer. So need help, is he correct in what he is telling. What will happen to a device rated at 120 V if it gets 140 V? Is it within its operating range.

I have used a 220/110 Transformer from Argo bought over 40 years back on an American sound system (now sold). They used to be one of the better brands for Transformers - check with them......

^^Dude the thing is that I have already shopped for 970 USD, and there is a thing called budget. Things like losless HD audio etc are all good things to have, but ask yourself, when will we see the first meaningful blue ray dvds launch in India? At what price? When will our broadcasters start providing set top boxes with HDMI and HD programs?

The only thing thats available in HD right now is PS3. I am ok with DTS decoding for now. When blue ray dvds become mainstream, I plan on buying a Blue-Ray DVD player with analog HD audio output, and use good quality cables to route that to my receiver. Or maybe just buy a full blown HD receiver few years down the line.

At the moment I am just buying something that would make my music meaningful.
