As simple as that, will GTA4 work on Windows 7? Or it can be played only on XP SP3 and Vista SP1?

I think it works. While running the setup.exe, browse to the CD and run it under windows XP compatibility mode for minimum compatibility issues.

Turn off compatibility mode for both the social club, and the launchgta4.exe file.
Shut down social club, and then start the game with the launchgta4.exe file.
Worked for me.

Alright, Worked Worked Worked. Just changed compatibility to XP SP3 of social club and the game and started the game from social club. YAY. :hap2:

Great to see it works on windows 7. Will there be a performance gain if I switch from Vista SP1 x64 to windows 7-7077?

Well my personal experience is that windows 7 gives more performance for most games including GTA 4

Use the Razor1911 Crack. Not only does it make the game faster but also free of bloatware like Windows Live.

I have the original DVD but still prefer to crack it

I too have the original DVD, but how does this patch make the game faster? It would be worth trying if it really makes gameplay fast.

Works absolutely fine on Windows 7, better than Vista. Using a little commandfile.txt, i have my settings all notched up to maximum, and absolutely smooth gameplay. I've even found a solution for the the texture-missing problem :)

1) Removes XLIVE Integration, so Games for Windows live bullcrap

2) Removes Rockstar Social Requirement.

All this made it run faster on my system or maybe it just seemed faster. I dunno.
