Lol, this is what the problem is. People expect MacOS to work just like Windows. I do not blame them though. It is hard to adjust to another OS after being lifelong Windows user.

In this case, just switch to Gallery view in Finder and you do not have to go to another app. Try Phoenix Slides for viewing images. Pretty good app. For tiling, there are many many free apps that enable this functionality. But, that is for people who again want Mac to work like Windows. Tiling is now built-in in Sequoia and works a little bit different. MacOS comes with bloody powerful combination keys. See this guide to learn all shortcuts for tiling in macOS.

I got 1TB variant. I would not say that it is unusable. If it purely for you to test and give to someone in family who will use it only for browsing or zoom calls, go ahead. 75k is a solid price for the M2 Air.
