CPU/Mobo Will it bottleneck

Here is My config

Inter E5200 with Gigabyte G31 mobo
Benq 19inch lcd
1tb hardisk
Cm 500w SMPS

I was initially planning to go for 4890. will the proccy bottleneck my GPU?

Which GPU should i go.Budget around 10k

try not to go beyond 9600GT with that psu.

anything beyond that wont reflect alot in performance either. (because of the resolution)

A stupid question will fetch stupid replies.

Expect to be flooded with the same. :)

-Decide a realistic budget for a GPU.

-Buy the best one in that amount, irrespective of your config but depending on your psu if you do not plan to buy a better psu as per the requirements.

-Else strike a balance between a good psu and a good GPU, chalk out a budget for the same and get both within that budget accordingly.

That's all i have to say. :)

Your 19" LCD will bottleneck the HD4890

Your 500w SMPS is likely to destroy the HD4890 or whatever you plan to buy

Solution:

Get a HD4870 1GB (6k for a used one) + Get a Corsair CX400 SMPS (3.2k for a new one) = 9.2k

Who is selling a 4870 1GB for 6K? :S

and you want to run it on a CX400 too? :S

It wont destroy just anything. Sure, 4890 wont run on that. Cm500w is a true 500w psu which can supply peak 500w while being 74-80% efficient (which has nothing to do with how much power it can provide).

A 4850/9600GT should be enough for all your gaming need whatsoever assuming that ur 19" has a reso of 1440x900, and that psu is enough for 4850/9600GT. Get something better only if you plan to buy a monitor with higher reso soon.

I think he's referring to starchazer's deal for the Sapphire HD4870. Wonder how some people really set that as some sort of a benchmark and judge the ongoing rates for a second hand card. :S

Using that card with the Corsair CX400 would be more like skating on thin ice - I wouldn't recommend that.

Let's not flame the guy and try to solve the Op's problem.

@Op: get a 9800gt/4850 which will run on that psu and would be good Vfm also Oc that proccy above 3.0ghz to avoid Cpu bottleneck it can be done on stock cooling only if your case has good airflow and ambient's are not too high :). If you need help in overclocking search the forum or post a thread we will help. :)

I think that running a 4870 on a 400W would be slightly pushing it towards the limit. Keep a minimal of 450W, and that too a good PSU.

^^THat PSU is good enuf to run ur config in ur siggy, probably with a HD4850 too

@ OP

Go for:-

Gigabyte 460W @ 2.2k

Sapphire HD5750 @ 8.8k

Total = 11k
